Description
本願は、NOZZLE WITH INTERNAL RAMPとして2007年5月9日に出願された係属中の米国仮特許出願第60/928,390号の優先権を主張するものであり、当該特許出願の全開示内容がこの参照によって本明細書に援用される。
本開示内容は、粉体コーティング材料を被加工物上へ塗布する装置及び方法に関する。例示的な実施形態では、本発明は、本明細書中では、手動操作式の静電粉体スプレーガン用のノズルを使用した場合について説明され、特定の実施形態では、ノズルは、粉体の高濃度供給に特に適している。しかし、本発明は、高濃度用途における使用にも、図面に示される特定のタイプのスプレーガンにも限定されない。例えば、本発明は、自動スプレーガンにおける用途を見出すことができ、またさらに、静電スプレー技術及び非静電スプレー技術と共に使用することができる。
図1を参照すると、典型的な粉体スプレーシステム10の例示的な実施形態が簡略化した概略的な形態で示されている。システム10は、特定の粉体コーティング作業を行うのに適している任意のスプレーガン設計であり得るスプレーガン12を含み得る。市販のスプレーガンの一例は、ノードソン コーポレーション(オハイオ州ウエストレイク)から入手可能なモデルPRODIGY(登録商標)であるが、これは、現在入手可能であるか又は後に開発されるガンを含む、使用することができる多くの様々なタイプのスプレーガンのうちの1つである。ガン12は、加圧空気14、及び静電ガンの場合には電気入力16を含む、複数の入力を受け取ることができる。スプレーガン12は、また、ポンプを含み得る供給源20から通常は給送ホース18を介して粉体コーティング材料流を受け取る。多くの様々なタイプの粉体供給システムを使用することができ、本明細書の例示的な実施形態では、供給源20は、ホース18を通ってスプレーガン12へ至る粉体流が、空気に対する粉体の割合が高い粉体と空気との濃混合物であることを意味する濃厚相で粉体を提供する。希薄相では、粉体流は、空気に対する粉体の割合が低い希薄な混合物を有する。本発明は、濃厚相粉体供給源に限定されないが、濃厚相粉体供給源を用いると特に有用である。本明細書中に記載される本発明と共に使用するのに好適な例示的な粉体コーティングシステムが、2005年6月16日に公開された米国特許出願公開第2005/0126476号明細書に記載されており、その全開示内容がこの参照によって本明細書中に完全に援用され、且つ本願と共に提示される。
Claims (5)
- 粉体スプレーガン用のスプレーノズルであって、
主流れ軸線に沿う粉体の流路と、
ノズル殻体とを備え、
該ノズル殻体は、粉体入口と、粉体がスプレーパターンとして流出する出口と、空気入口と、粉体を静電帯電させる電極と、該ノズル殻体内に配置されたフィルタとを有し、粉体が前記ノズルの前記出口から流出する前に、前記空気入口からの空気は、前記フィルタを通して、粉体に加えられ、
前記フィルタは、空気に対して多孔性である実質的に円錐形の中空体であり、
前記出口は、前記フィルタの長手方向軸線から半径方向にずれているスロットからなり、
前記スロットは、前記主流れ軸線に対して平行であると共に前記主流れ軸線から半径方向にずれている2つの実質的に平行な面からなり、
前記ノズルを通って長手方向に流れる粉体は、前記出口を通って流れる前に、障害面に衝突し、前記障害面は、粉体流を前記主流れ軸線から前記スロットへ向けて方向を変える傾斜面を有し、粉体は、前記主流れ軸線に平行な軸線に実質的に沿う出口スプレーパターンで前記スロットを通って流れるスプレーノズル。 - 前記フィルタは、円錐台形である請求項1に記載のスプレーノズル。
- 前記フィルタの前記中空体の材料は、焼結ポリプロピレンを含む請求項1に記載のスプレーノズル。
- スプレーガンに配置される請求項1に記載のスプレーノズル。
- 濃厚相又は希薄相の粉体の供給源と組み合わせられる請求項4に記載のスプレーノズル。
