Claims (6)
- 透明電極と、
配向膜形成面と略平行に液晶を配向させる配向力を有する配向膜を備えた一対の透明基板と、
前記透明基板に挟持された液晶層と、
前記液晶層に含まれる液晶と、
前記液晶層に形成されたグレーティング部と、
を備え、
前記液晶は正の誘電率異方性を備え、
前記液晶は透明電極を介して電位差を与えると、液晶の分子長軸が電界方向に平行になるように配向し、
前記配向膜は、液晶に一軸の平行配向を与える表面処理が施され、前記表面処理の方向は、前記グレーティング部の線部の延在方向に対して所定の角度により施され、
前記液晶は、前記電位差を与えられたとき前記液晶と前記グレーティング部との間に屈折率の界面を生じ、
前記グレーティング部の線幅は10〜100μmの範囲内、開口幅は10〜100μmの範囲内であり、
前記グレーティング部はストライプ状に形成され、
前記透明電極には前記液晶層に対する電圧印加手段が接続され、
たことを特徴とする液晶光学素子。 - 前記配向処理の方向は、
前記グレーティング部の線部の延在方向に直交する方向を基準として、
±45°の範囲内である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶光学素子。 - 前記グレーティング部は、
前記液晶と重量比率1〜15wt%の範囲内の光硬化性樹脂のモノマーを含んだ混合材料に対して、
光照射で得られた樹脂硬化物を含有することを特徴とする請求項1〜2のいずれか1項に記載の液晶光学素子。 - 前記光硬化性樹脂のモノマーは、自身が液晶性を示す液晶モノマーであり、
前記液晶性モノマーは、前記液晶と略等しい屈折率分布を有する、
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶光学素子。 - 光源とリフレクタとを備えた車両用灯具において、前記光源から出射された光が外部への照射光となる光路途中に請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶光学素子が配設され、
前記電圧印加手段を介して前記液晶光学素子に信号を与えることによって照明配光を制御することを特徴とする車両用灯具。 - 前記光照射は、前記混合材料に対してフォトマスクを介した紫外線照射を行なうものであり、
前記光照射の照射時間は10〜120sの範囲内である、
ことを特徴とする請求項3又は4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶光学素子の製造方法。
