(発明の効果)

〔触媒担持粉体の製造〕
酸化マグネシウム(アルドリッチ社製:比表面積130m2/g)18g(0.45mol)を、水600mlに分散し、酸化マグネシウムのスラリーを調製した。
上記のようにして得られた触媒担持粉体を用い、燃焼法によりカーボンナノチューブを製造した。
バーナー3を、予混合バーナーから拡散バーナーとし、エチレンと空気の体積比(エチレン:空気)を1.75:10として拡散バーナーに供給する以外は、実施例1と同様にしてカーボンナノチューブを製造した。
多孔質支持体2を多孔質金属製の支持体(富山住友電工社製、商品名セルメット:材質 ニッケル)とした以外は、実施例1と同様にしてカーボンナノチューブを製造した。
多孔質支持体2として、ステンレススチールメッシュを積み重ねて用いる以外は、実施例2と同様にしてカーボンナノチューブを製造した。
Claims (6)
- 燃焼法によりカーボンナノチューブを製造する方法であって、
ベース粉体の表面に触媒を担持させた触媒担持粉体を準備する工程と、
火炎が流通する流通孔を内部に有する多孔質支持体の前記流通孔内に前記触媒担持粉体を固着させることなく保持させる工程と、
前記触媒担持粉体を保持した前記多孔質支持体を、一方端が開口した燃焼炉内に配置する工程と、
前記燃焼炉の他方端に設置されたバーナー部において、炭素を含有した火炎を発生させ、該火炎を前記多孔質支持体の前記流通孔内に供給し、該流通孔内の前記触媒担持粉体の表面上にカーボンナノチューブを生成させる工程とを備え、
前記燃焼炉の前記一方端に、前記火炎の流れの一部を前記多孔質支持体側に戻すための遮蔽部材が設けられていることを特徴とするカーボンナノチューブの製造方法。 - 前記ベース粉体が、酸またはアルカリに溶解可能な材料から形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のカーボンナノチューブの製造方法。
- 前記ベース粉体が、水酸化マグネシウム、酸化マグネシウム、水酸化カルシウム、酸化カルシウムの内少なくとも一つ以上から形成されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のカーボンナノチューブの製造方法。
- 表面上にカーボンナノチューブを生成させた前記触媒担持粉体を、前記多孔質支持体から取り出し、酸またはアルカリと接触させて前記ベース粉体を溶解させ、カーボンナノチューブを回収する工程をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項2または3に記載のカーボンナノチューブの製造方法。
- 前記多孔質支持体が、金属繊維またはセラミック繊維を絡めた凝集体、金属製メッシュまたはセラミック製メッシュを積み重ねた積層体、あるいは多孔質金属または多孔質セラミックから形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のカーボンナノチューブの製造方法。
- 燃焼法によりカーボンナノチューブを製造するための装置であって、
ベース粉体の表面に触媒を担持させた触媒担持粉体を固着させることなく保持するための流通孔を内部に有する多孔質支持体と、
前記多孔質支持体が内部に配置される、一方端が開口した燃焼炉と、
前記燃焼炉の他方端に設置されるバーナー部と、
火炎の流れの一部を前記多孔質支持体側に戻すため、前記燃焼炉の前記一方端に設けられる遮蔽部材とを備え、
前記バーナー部において、炭素を含有した火炎を発生させ、該火炎を多孔質支持体の前記流通孔内に供給し、該流通孔内の前記触媒担持粉体の表面上にカーボンナノチューブを生成させることを特徴とするカーボンナノチューブの製造装置。
