Description
この一般式において、炭素原子数1〜5のアルキル基としては、具体的には、メチル基、エチル基、n-プロピル基、イソプロピル基、n-ブチル基、tert-ブチル基、イソブチル基、n-ペンチル基、イソペンチル基、ネオペンチル基などが挙げられ、このうちメチル基が特に好ましい。炭素数1〜5のアルコキシ基としては、具体的には、メトキシ基、エトキシ基、プロポキシ基、ブトキシ基、ペンチルオキシ基などが挙げられ、このうち、メトキシ基が好ましい。ハロゲン原子としては、塩素、臭素、ヨウ素、フッ素が挙げられる。
A)アセナフチレン系重合性単量体を、カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体の少なくとも一部として含有させ、該アセナフチレン系重合性単量体を含めた、これら重合性単量体が有する上記カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基に対してカチオン交換基の導入処理を施す方法。すなわちこの場合、本発明の方法は、少なくとも一部としてアセナフチレン系重合性単量体を含有する、カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体、および架橋性重合性単量体、並びに有効量の重合開始剤を含む重合性組成物を、多孔質膜と接触させて、該重合性組成物を多孔質膜の有する空隙部に充填させた後重合硬化させ、次いで上記アセナフチレン系重合性単量体のナフチレン基も含めた、カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基に対して該カチオン交換基を導入する方法として実施されることになる。
B)カチオン交換基を有する重合性単量体を使用し、アセナフチレン系重合性単量体に基づく単位にはカチオン交換基は導入しない方法。すなわちこの場合、本発明の方法は、アセナフチレン系重合性単量体、カチオン交換基を有する重合性単量体、架橋性重合性単量体、および有効量の重合開始剤を含む重合性組成物を、多孔質膜と接触させて、該重合性組成物を多孔質膜の有する空隙部に充填させた後重合硬化させる方法として実施されることになる。
C)カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体として、アセナフチレン系重合性単量体には導入困難なカチオン交換基の導入に適したものを用い、この単量体に基づく単位に対してのみ、カチオン交換基の導入処理を施す方法。すなわちこの場合、本発明の方法は、アセナフチレン系重合性単量体、該アセナフチレン系重合性単量体には導入困難なカチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体、架橋性重合性単量体、および有効量の重合開始剤を含む重合性組成物を、多孔質膜と接触させて、該重合性組成物を多孔質膜の有する空隙部に充填させた後重合硬化させ、次いで上記カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基に対してカチオン交換基を導入する方法として実施されることになる。
イオン交換膜を1mol/L−HCl水溶液に10時間以上浸漬し、水素イオン型とした後、1mol/L−NaCl水溶液でナトリウムイオン型に置換させ、遊離した水素イオンを水酸化ナトリウム水溶液を用いて電位差滴定装置(COMTITE−900、平沼産業株式会社製)で定量した(Amol)。次に、同じイオン交換膜を1mol/L−HCl水溶液に4時間以上浸漬し、イオン交換水で十分水洗した後膜を取り出しティッシュペーパー等で表面の水分を拭き取り湿潤時の重さ(Wg)を測定した。さらに膜を60℃で5時間減圧乾燥させその重量を測定した(Dg)。上記測定値に基づいて、イオン交換容量および含水率を次式により求めた。
含水率=100×(W−D)/D[%]
2)膜抵抗
0.5cm間隔に線幅0.3mmの白金線を設置した基板に純水に湿潤した2.0cm幅の短冊状サンプル膜を押し当てる。40℃、90%RHの恒温恒湿槽中に試料を保持し、白金線間の交流1kHzの交流インピーダンスを測定する。白金線は0.5cm間隔に5本配置しており、極間距離を0.5〜2.0cmに変化させてそれぞれの交流抵抗を測定する。白金線と膜との間には接触による抵抗が生じるが、極間距離と抵抗の勾配から膜の比抵抗を算出することでこの影響を除外した。極間距離と抵抗測定値との間には良い直線関係が得られ、勾配と膜厚から下式により膜抵抗を算出した。

3)メタノール透過率
燃料電池セル(電解質膜面積5cm2)に膜を挟み、メタノール濃度30重量%水溶液を液体クロマトグラフィー用供給ポンプで供給し、膜の反対側にアルゴンガスを300ml/minで供給する。測定は恒温槽内25℃で実施した。電解質膜を透過したメタノール量は、ガス捕集容器で捕集したアルゴンガス中のメタノール濃度をガスクロマトグラフィーで測定し求めた。
ポリテトラフルオロエチレンで撥水化処理した厚さ100μm、空孔率80%のカーボンペーパー上に、白金とルテニウム合金触媒(ルテニウム50mol%)50重量%担持のカーボンブラックと、パーフルオロカーボンスルホン酸のアルコールと水の5%溶液(デュポン社製、商品名ナフィオン)を混合したものを触媒が2mg/cm2となるように塗布し、80℃で4時間減圧乾燥しガス拡散電極とした。
表1に示した組成表に従って、各種の重合性単量体等を混合して重合性組成物を得た。得られた重合性組成物400gを500mlのガラス容器に入れ、表1に示した多孔質膜(A、B各20cm×20cm)を浸漬した。
表1に示した重合性組成物と多孔質膜を用いた以外は実施例1と同じ操作を行い、直接液体型燃料電池隔膜を得た。

Claims (4)
- カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体またはカチオン交換基を有する重合性単量体、架橋性重合性単量体、および有効量の重合開始剤を含む重合性組成物を、多孔質膜と接触させて、該重合性組成物を多孔質膜の有する空隙部に充填させた後重合硬化させ、次いで必要に応じてカチオン交換基を導入する直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜の製造方法において、上記重合性組成物にアセナフチレン系重合性単量体を重合性単量体の総量に対して7〜50質量%含有させることを特徴とする直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜の製造方法。
- アセナフチレン系重合性単量体を、カチオン交換基の導入に適した官能基を有する重合性単量体の少なくとも一部として含有させる請求項1記載の直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜の製造方法。
- 直接メタノール型燃料電池用隔膜である請求項1または請求項2記載の直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜の製造方法。
- 多孔質膜の有する空隙部に、カチオン交換基を有する重合性単量体単位、および架橋性重合性単量体単位を含む重合体が充填された直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜であって、該重合体にアセナフチレン系重合性単量体単位を重合性単量体単位の総量に対して7〜50質量%含有していることを特徴とする直接液体型燃料電池用隔膜。
