Description
本発明の好適な一実施形態である巻回型リチウムイオン二次電池(以下、「電池」と記す)2は、図1、2に示すように、帯状の正極4と、帯状の負極6とが、帯状のセパレータ8を挟むようにして巻かれた略楕円型の巻回体10を備える。巻回体10の正極4及び負極6にそれぞれリード12を接続したものが、電池2の外装ケース(図示省略)に封入されている。
本発明の一実施形態に係る巻回型リチウムイオン二次電池(電池2)の製造方法では、帯状の正極4、帯状の負極6、及び帯状のセパレータ8をそれぞれ1つずつ用いて巻回体10を形成する。
Claims (4)
- 集電体の両面に活物質層が形成された帯状の正極と負極とが帯状のセパレータを挟むようにして巻かれた巻回体を備え、
前記正極の前記巻回体中心側端部の両面が前記セパレータを介してそれぞれ前記負極と隣り合い、前記負極の前記巻回体中心側端部の両面が前記セパレータを介してそれぞれ前記正極と隣り合い、
前記正極及び前記負極の巻回体外周側端部のうち、最外周側に配置された前記巻回体外周側端部が、内周側に配置された前記巻回体外周側端部より、前記巻回体の巻き方向へ延びている、ことを特徴とする巻回型電気化学デバイス。 - 前記最外周側に配置された前記巻回体外周側端部が、前記内周側に押し付けられるようにして前記巻回体の外周面に固定されている、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の巻回型電気化学デバイス。
- 帯状のセパレータを前記セパレータの長手方向に折り曲げて、前記セパレータで、集電体の両面に活物質層が形成された帯状の正極又は負極のいずれか一方の電極を前記一方の電極の長手方向の端部側から挟み、前記一方の電極の両面を前記セパレータで覆う工程と、
前記正極又は前記負極のいずれか他方の電極の長手方向の端部側を前記他方の電極の長手方向に折り曲げて、前記セパレータで挟まれた前記一方の電極の端部を前記他方の電極の端部で挟み、前記セパレータで挟まれた前記一方の電極の端部と前記他方の電極の端部とを有する巻芯部を形成する工程と、
前記巻芯部に、両面を前記セパレータで覆った前記一方の電極及び前記他方の電極を巻き付けて、巻回体を形成する工程と、を備え、
前記一方の電極の両面を前記セパレータで覆う工程において、前記セパレータの長手方向の中心部で、前記セパレータを前記セパレータの長手方向に折り曲げて、前記セパレータで前記一方の電極を前記一方の電極の長手方向の端部側から挟み、前記一方の電極の両面を前記セパレータで覆う、ことを特徴とする巻回型電気化学デバイスの製造方法。 - 前記セパレータの長手方向の長さが、前記正極又は前記負極の少なくともいずれかの長手方向の長さの2倍以上である、ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の巻回型電気化学デバイスの製造方法。
