Description
本発明の具体的な構成として、当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒の中で触媒床温が最も低い触媒を基準に前記PM除去制御を実施するとともに、前記複数の触媒の触媒床温を平均した値を基準にして前記硫黄除去制御を実施するという構成を挙げることができる。
また、当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒のPM堆積量をそれぞれ吸入空気量に基づいて推定し、その推定したPM堆積量が最も大きい触媒を基準にして前記PM除去制御の実施時期を判定するという構成を挙げることができる。
さらに、他の具体的な構成として、当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒の触媒床温のうちで最も低い触媒床温が前記PM除去制御に必要な温度になっているか否かを判定し、前記最も低い触媒床温が前記PM除去制御に必要な温度になっていないときには、前記内燃機関の燃焼状態を前記複数の触媒の触媒床温を上昇させる燃焼状態に切り替えるという構成を挙げることができる。また、当該制御装置は、前記複数の排気系統にそれぞれ設けられた燃料添加弁を制御して前記同一のPM除去制御または前記同一の硫黄除去制御を実施するという構成を挙げることができる。
まず、本発明を適用するエンジンの一例を図1を参照しながら説明する。
ECU100は、CPU、ROM、RAM及びバックアップRAMなどを備えている。ROMは、各種制御プログラムや、それら各種制御プログラムを実行する際に参照されるマップ等が記憶されている。CPUは、ROMに記憶された各種制御プログラムやマップに基づいて演算処理を実行する。また、RAMは、CPUでの演算結果や各センサから入力されたデータ等を一時的に記憶するメモリであり、バックアップRAMは、エンジン1の停止時にその保存すべきデータ等を記憶する不揮発性のメモリである。
ECU100は、DPNR触媒18L,18Rに堆積したPMを酸化させるPM再生制御、NSR触媒17L,17R及びDPNR触媒18L,18RのNOx吸蔵還元触媒をS被毒から回復させるS被毒再生制御、及び、NSR触媒17L,17R及びDPNR触媒18L,18RのNOx吸蔵還元触媒に吸蔵されたNOxを還元するNOx還元制御などを実行する。以下、これらPM再生制御、S被毒再生制御及びNOx還元制御について説明する。
ECU100は、DPNR触媒18L,18RへのPMの堆積量を推定している。PM堆積量の推定方法としては、エンジン回転数と燃料噴射量に応じたエンジン排出PM量を予め実験等により求めてマップ化しておき、このマップにより求められるエンジン排出PM量を積算してPMの堆積量を算出するという方法が挙げられる。
ECU100は、NSR触媒17L,17R及びDPNR触媒18L,18RのNOx吸蔵還元触媒のS被毒量を推定している。S被毒量の推定方法としては、エンジン回転数と燃料噴射量に応じたS被毒量を予め実験等により求めてマップ化しておき、このマップにより求められるS被毒量を積算するという方法が挙げられる。そして、ECU100は、推定したS被毒量が所定の判定値(限界推定量)を超えたときにS被毒を回復する再生時期であると判定してS被毒再生を実施する。S被毒再生制御については後述する。
次に、ECU100が実行するPM再生・S被毒再生制御について図2のフローチャートを参照しながら説明する。このPM再生・S被毒再生制御ルーチンは所定時間周期で繰り返し実行される。
まず、ディーゼルエンジンにおいては、大部分の運転領域で排気の空燃比はリーン空燃比となっているため、通常の運転状態では、NSR触媒17L,17R及びDPNR触媒18L,18Rの周囲雰囲気は高酸素濃度状態となっている。このため、排気ガス中のNOxは、NSR触媒17L,17R及びDPNR触媒18L,18RのNOx吸蔵還元触媒に吸蔵されるが、周囲雰囲気が低酸素濃度となるときは非常に少ないため、吸蔵されたNOxが還元されにくく、NOx吸蔵還元触媒のNOx吸蔵能力が飽和しやすい。
以上の例では、排気系統が2系統のV型8気筒ディーゼルエンジンに本発明を適用した例を示したが、本発明はこれに限られることなく、例えば図6に示すように、左右のバンク2L,2Rにそれぞれ2系統の排気通路201L,202L及び201L,201Rが形成され、全体として4系統の排気系統が接続されたディーゼルエンジンなど、排気系統が3系統以上の任意の気筒数のディーゼルにも適用可能である。また、V型エンジンに限られることなく、水平対向型や直列型などの他のレイアウトのエンジンにも適用可能である。さらに、本発明は、筒内直噴ディーゼルエンジンに限られることなく、他のタイプのディーゼルエンジンにも適用可能である。

Claims (6)
- 複数のシリンダ群を備える内燃機関に適用される排気浄化装置の制御装置であって、
前記複数のシリンダ群にはそれぞれ互いに異なる排気系統が接続され、前記排気浄化装置は、前記排気系統にそれぞれ排気ガスを浄化する触媒を有し、
当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒の状態に関わらず、前記複数の触媒に対して同一のPM除去制御または同一の硫黄除去制御を実施することを特徴とする排気浄化装置の制御装置。 - 請求項1に記載の排気浄化装置の制御装置において、
当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒の中で触媒床温が最も低い触媒を基準に前記PM除去制御を実施するとともに、前記複数の触媒の触媒床温を平均した値を基準にして前記硫黄除去制御を実施することを特徴とする排気浄化装置の制御装置。 - 請求項1または2に記載の排気浄化装置の制御装置において、
当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒のPM堆積量をそれぞれ吸入空気量に基づいて推定し、その推定したPM堆積量が最も大きい触媒を基準にして前記PM除去制御の実施時期を判定することを特徴とする排気浄化装置の制御装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の排気浄化装置の制御装置において、
当該制御装置は、前記複数の触媒の触媒床温のうちで最も低い触媒床温が前記PM除去制御に必要な温度になっているか否かを判定し、前記最も低い触媒床温が前記PM除去制御に必要な温度になっていないときには、前記内燃機関の燃焼状態を前記複数の触媒の触媒床温を上昇させる燃焼状態に切り替えることを特徴とする排気浄化装置の制御装置。 - 請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の排気浄化装置の制御装置において、
当該制御装置は、前記複数の排気系統にそれぞれ設けられた燃料添加弁を制御して前記同一のPM除去制御または前記同一の硫黄除去制御を実施することを特徴とする排気浄化装置の制御装置。 - 複数のシリンダ群を備える内燃機関に適用される排気浄化装置の制御方法であって、
複数のシリンダ群にはそれぞれ互いに異なる排気系統が接続されており、
当該制御方法は、前記排気系統にそれぞれ設けられた触媒によって排気ガスを浄化することと、前記複数の触媒の状態に関わらず、前記複数の触媒に対して同一のPM除去制御または同一の硫黄除去制御を実施することとを含む排気浄化装置の制御方法。
