Claims (10)
- 表示パネルと、
表示パネル上のパネル欠陥位置についての位置データ及び補償データが保存されるメモリと、
前記表示パネルに表示される赤、緑、青のビデオ信号から輝度、色差信号を算出し、前記輝度信号のデータビット数を拡張して、前記ビット数が拡張された輝度信号を発生させる第1変換器と、
前記メモリを参照して、前記パネル欠陥位置の前記拡張された輝度信号を前記補償データで増減して、補正された輝度信号を発生させる補償部と、
前記色差信号及び前記補正された輝度信号から赤、緑、青の信号を算出し、前記算出された赤、緑、青の信号のビット数を縮少して、補正されたビデオ信号を発生させる第2変換器と、
前記第2変換器から出力されたビデオ信号を前記表示パネルに表示する前記表示パネルの駆動回路と、を備えることを特徴とする平板表示装置。 - 前記補償データは、前記パネル欠陥位置の位置別、前記パネル欠陥位置に表示されるデータの階調別に異なって設定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の平板表示装置。
- 前記補償データは、前記輝度信号を補償するための値に設定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の平板表示装置。
- 前記メモリは、データの更新が可能なメモリを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の平板表示装置。
- 前記メモリは、EEPROMとEDID ROMのうちいずれか一つを含むことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の平板表示装置。
- 前記表示パネルは、複数のデータラインと複数のゲートラインとが交差し、複数の液晶セルが配置される液晶表示パネルを備え、
前記表示パネルの駆動回路は、
前記補正されたビデオ信号を前記データラインに供給するデータ駆動回路と、
前記ゲートラインにスキャンパルスを供給するためのゲート駆動回路と、
前記データ駆動回路と、前記ゲート駆動回路を制御し、前記第2変換器からのビデオ信号を前記データ駆動回路に供給するためのタイミングコントローラと、を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の平板表示装置。 - 前記補償部は、前記タイミングコントローラと共に集積されてワンチップ化されることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の平板表示装置。
- 第1変換器で、表示パネルに表示される赤、緑、青のビデオ信号から輝度、色差信号を算出し、前記輝度信号のデータビット数を拡張して、前記ビット数が拡張された輝度信号を発生させるステップと、
補償部で、メモリーにあらかじめ保存されたパネル欠陥位置データ及び補償データ利用して、前記パネル欠陥位置の前記拡張された輝度信号を前記補償データで増減して、補正された輝度信号を発生させるステップと、
第2変換器で、前記色差信号及び前記補正された輝度信号から赤、緑、青の信号を算出し、前記算出された赤、緑、青の信号のビット数を縮少して、補正されたビデオ信号を発生させるステップと、
前記表示パネルの駆動回路で、前記第2変換器から出力されたビデオ信号を前記表示パネルに表示するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする平板表示装置の画質制御方法。 - 前記補償データは、前記パネル欠陥位置の位置別、前記パネル欠陥位置に表示されるデータの階調別に異なって設定されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の平板表示装置の画質制御方法。
- 前記補償データは、前記輝度信号を補償するための値に設定されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の平板表示装置の画質制御方法。
