上記紙幣挿入口は、紙幣識別装置の外部に開口しているため、そのままでは雨水、塵埃等がこの紙幣挿入口から内部に侵入し、上記紙幣搬送機構、紙幣識別センサ等に悪影響を及ぼすおそれがある。この点を防ぐ技術として、特開平8−63640号公報には、紙幣挿入口を開閉するための次のような機構が開示されている。

上記課題を解決するために、請求項1の本発明では、紙幣が挿入される紙幣挿入口と、紙幣挿入口を開閉するための挿入口開閉機構とを備えた紙幣識別装置において、前記挿入口開閉機構を、単一の軸部と、この軸部を中心に略180度回動して紙幣挿入口を開閉する挿入口扉と、挿入口扉を閉方向に付勢するコイル状のバネとから形成し、紙幣挿入口の上方に、軸部の中心軸方向略中央部をバネを介して支持する支持部を設けたことを特徴としている。

図1〜図4は本発明の一実施形態に係るもので、図1は紙幣識別装置の全体斜視図、図2は挿入口開閉機構の分解斜視説明図、図3及び図4は挿入口扉の閉状態及び最大開放状態を概略的に示す側面説明図である。

紙幣識別装置1は、紙幣搬送機構、紙幣識別センサ(いずれも図示せず)等が内蔵される装置本体10と、装置本体10のフロント側に付設されるフロントマスク部20とを備えている。フロントマスク部20の表面(以下「マスク面」という。)20aには、紙幣挿入口21(図2、図3及び図4参照)が開口すると共に、この紙幣挿入口21を開閉するための挿入口開閉機構30が以下のように配設されている。

即ち、挿入口開閉機構30は、図2に分解して示すように、軸部材31と、軸部材31を中心に回動して紙幣挿入口21を開閉する挿入口扉32と、挿入口扉32を常に閉方向に付勢する弾性部材としてのバネ33とから構成されている。マスク面20aには、軸部材31の両端部を支持する軸支部34と、バネ33を支持するバネ支持部35とが設けられている。また、挿入口扉32には、軸部材31を通す軸通部32aと、バネ33の作用両端部を受けるバネ受け部32bと、紙幣を挿入する者が挿入口扉32を開ける際につまむつまみ部32cとが設けられている。軸部材31と軸支部34との係合は、左側の軸支部34の内側に突設した鍔34aに軸部材31の溝31aを圧入して行われ、これにより軸部材31の組付け性を向上させている。
