Description

【0001】

[0001]
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus, and more particularly to an ink jet recording apparatus that can obtain borderless printing without soiling a rotating drum or soiling a recording medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An ink jet recording apparatus is generally known as an apparatus for obtaining a print by winding a recording medium around a rotating drum and scanning an ink jet recording head on the recording medium to perform recording on the recording medium. In such an ink jet recording apparatus, there are problems such as an increase in ink viscosity when ink discharge is stopped and clogging due to drying of the head, and the means described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-8406 is known as a technique for solving these problems. It has been.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The technique described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 5-8406 is provided with an ink receiving portion on a rotating drum that allows the recording head to periodically perform ejection other than recording.
[0004]
However, this technique has a problem that borderless printing cannot be performed. That is, when ink is ejected (discharged) to the outside of the recording medium in order to obtain a borderless print, there is a problem that the rotating drum is soiled and the recording medium is soiled at the next printing.
[0005]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an ink jet recording apparatus that can obtain a borderless print without soiling a rotating drum or a recording medium.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The above problems are solved by the following invention.
[0012]
According to the first aspect of the present invention, a recording medium is held on a rotating drum, and has at least one ink jet recording head. The recording head is scanned beyond both ends of the recording medium, and the recording medium has no border. An ink receiving apparatus capable of receiving ink outside the rotating drum and outside the recording medium. the provided parts, the ink receiving portion, to said rotary drum in which is formed on the rotary drum side recesses will be arranged in non-contact, recess, Ru is formed on the entire rotary drum side, leaving the rotary drum cylindrical surface This is an ink jet recording apparatus.
[0013]
Even if a recording medium larger than the width of the rotating drum is wound and an ink receiving portion is provided outside the rotating drum, ink is ejected to the outside of the recording medium to create a print having no margin in the width direction. Since the ink discharged to the outside is received by the ink receiving portion, the ink does not scatter in the apparatus and the apparatus or recording medium is not soiled.
[0015]
In addition , since the ink receiving portion can be arranged to the inside of the cylindrical surface of the rotating drum and the amount of the recording medium jumping out of the cylindrical surface of the rotating drum can be reduced, the edge of the recording medium rises during rotation of the rotating drum and the image is distorted. And the recording head is not destroyed by contact with the recording head.
[0016]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, a recording medium is held on a rotating drum and has at least one ink jet recording head, and recording is performed on the recording medium by scanning the recording head within the width of the recording medium. An ink jet recording apparatus having a configuration in which a recording medium is held on a rotating drum after recording is completed, and a cutter is placed against the rotating drum to cut the width direction of the recording medium to obtain a borderless print. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a cutter insertion portion is provided on the rotating drum so as to be positioned in the vicinity of the inner sides of both sides of the wound recording medium, and the cutter is placed on the rotating drum to be in front of the cutter. Is cut into the width direction of the recording medium while being inserted into the cutter insertion portion to obtain a borderless print.
[0017]
Employing the above-described cutter method has an effect that a borderless print can be obtained while being wound around a rotating drum.
[0018]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
A first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0019]
Reference numeral 1 denotes a rotating drum, and reference numeral 2 denotes a recording medium wound around the rotating drum 1. Reference numeral 3 denotes recording medium holding means for winding and holding the recording medium 2 around the rotary drum 1. The configuration of the recording medium holding means 3 is not particularly limited as long as it can hold the recording medium 2. For example, as shown in FIG. 3, the recording medium holding means 3 may be elastically held using a hook-shaped elastic member. Alternatively, although not shown, the recording medium 2 can be held on the rotary drum 1 using a magnetic member.
[0020]
Reference numeral 4 denotes a preliminary discharge unit for preventing the recording head 5 from drying. For example, a configuration in which an ink absorbing member is fixed to the rotary drum 1 can be adopted. The ink absorbing member is not particularly limited as long as it has the property of absorbing ink, and examples thereof include a sponge, absorbent paper, and a porous body.
[0021]
Reference numeral 6 denotes an ink receiving portion for borderless printing, in which an ink absorbing member is filled in a groove formed in parallel to the rotation direction of the rotary drum 1 and outside the both side ends in the width direction of the recording medium 2. It has the composition which becomes. A preferred form is a configuration in which the side edge of the recording medium 2 is located in the middle of the groove. The ink absorbing member is not particularly limited as long as it has the property of absorbing ink, and examples thereof include a sponge, absorbent paper, and a porous body. It is preferable that the ink absorbing member can be replaced when the ink absorbing member is saturated by absorbing ink. It is also possible to adopt a configuration in which after ink is absorbed and received, it can be sucked and discharged to the outside. For example, although not shown, ink is sucked from the ink receiving portion 6 immediately after the ink is discharged from the recording head 5 to the ink receiving portion 6 or at a time when not so much time passes, and the sucked ink is discharged to the outside. You can also.
[0022]
Reference numeral 7 denotes a drive unit for moving the recording head 5 in the direction of the rotation axis of the rotary drum 1, and rotary pulleys 70, 70 provided at both ends of the rotary drum 1, and a belt spanned between the pulleys 70, 70. 71, a drive motor 72 that rotates the belt 71, and a regulation rod 73 that regulates the moving direction of the recording head 5, and the back surface of the belt 71 and the recording head 5 is fixed. Therefore, when the belt 71 rotates by driving the motor 72, the recording head 5 moves in the direction of the rotation axis of the rotary drum 1 while being regulated by the regulation rod 73.
[0023]
Reference numeral 8 denotes a cap for preventing the recording head 5 from drying.
[0024]
Explaining the operation of the apparatus having the above configuration, the sheet-like recording medium 2 supplied from the paper supply unit 9 as shown in FIG. 3 is wound around the rotary drum 1 by a winding means (not shown), and the recording medium holding means. 3 is held on the surface of the rotating drum 1. The rotating drum 1 is configured to rotate at a constant speed by a motor (not shown).
[0025]
The recording head 5 is initially fitted to the cap 8 to prevent drying. When the motor 1 rotates, the recording head 5 moves along the rotary drum 1 in the direction of the rotary drum rotation axis via the rotary pulleys 70 and 70. The recording head 5 starts image recording by discharging ink from the position of the groove of the ink receiving portion 6 for print recording on the slightly outer edge of the recording medium 2.
[0026]
Each time the rotating drum 1 rotates, the recording head 5 moves along the rotating drum 1 by a predetermined amount in the rotating drum rotating shaft direction.
[0027]
When the preliminary ejection unit 4 around which the recording medium 2 is not wound passes under the recording head 5, the recording head 5 ejects ink and prevents the recording head from drying.
[0028]
Since the ink absorbing member 6 for borderless printing and the preliminary ejection unit 4 are filled with the ink absorbing member, the ejected ink can be received and held.
[0029]
When the recording head 5 reaches the ink receiving portion 6 for borderless print recording on the outer side of the other end of the recording medium 2, the recording is terminated and the recording head 5 is returned to the original cap 8 position. In FIG. 2, the hatched portion indicates the ink discharge area.
[0030]
The recording medium 2 is released from the rotating drum 1 by the unillustrated detaching means, and the recording medium 2 is sent to the paper discharge unit 10 shown in FIG. The cutter 11 provided in the paper discharge unit 10 cuts off the leading and trailing margins of the recording medium 2 and obtains a borderless print having no margins in the width direction and the conveyance direction.
[0031]
As described above, when the ink receiving portion 6 for borderless printing is provided on the rotary drum 1, ink can be ejected to both outer sides of the recording medium 2 and a print having no margin in the width direction of the recording medium can be created.
[0032]
In the above-described embodiment, the preliminary ejection unit 4 is not necessarily an essential configuration, but the provision of the preliminary ejection unit 4 is preferable because it has an effect of preventing the print head from drying in addition to the above effect.
[0033]
Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0034]
In the embodiment shown in the figure, instead of the ink receiving portion 6 for borderless printing described in the first embodiment, a rotary drum cleaning means 20 capable of pressure bonding and separation is provided on the rotary drum 1. It has characteristics. The preliminary discharge part 4 can be provided if necessary.
[0035]
The configuration of the rotary drum cleaning means 20 includes the modes shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 as a preferable mode. FIG. 5 shows an example in which an unused sheet-like ink absorbing member 202 wound around one roll 201A of a pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B is configured to be wound around the other cleaning roll 201B. Yes. In order for the ink absorbing member 202 to be pressure-bonded / separated on the rotary drum 1, a configuration in which a pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B are both vertically parallel is adopted. The configuration in which the pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B are both made up and down in parallel is not particularly limited.
[0036]
FIG. 5 shows a state in which the pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B has moved downward and separated from the recording medium 2, and FIG. 6 shows the pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B moved upward and crimped to the rotating drum 1. Shows the state.
[0037]
The operation of the second aspect will be described. Initially, the rotary drum cleaning means 20 is separated from the recording medium 2 as shown in FIG. A sheet-like recording medium 2 supplied from a paper supply unit (not shown) is wound around the rotary drum 1 by a winding unit (not shown) and held on the surface of the rotary drum 1 by a recording medium holding unit 3. The rotating drum 1 is configured to rotate at a constant speed by a motor (not shown).
[0038]
The recording head 5 is initially fitted in a cap (not shown) to prevent drying. When a motor (not shown) rotates, the recording head 5 moves along the rotary drum 1 in the direction of the rotary drum rotation axis via the rotary pulley. The recording head 5 starts image recording by ejecting ink from slightly outside the recording medium 2. Each time the rotating drum 1 rotates, the recording head 5 moves along the rotating drum 1 by a predetermined amount in the rotating drum rotating shaft direction.
[0039]
When the preliminary ejection unit 4 around which the recording medium 2 is not wound passes under the recording head 5, the recording head 5 ejects ink and prevents the recording head from drying.
[0040]
When the recording head 5 reaches the outside of the other end of the recording medium 2, the recording is terminated, and the recording head 5 is returned to the original cap position.
[0041]
The recording medium holding means 3 is released, the recording medium 2 is removed from the rotating drum 1 by a removing means (not shown), and sent to the paper discharge unit (see FIG. 3). The cutter 11 provided in the paper discharge unit 10 cuts off the leading and trailing margins of the recording medium 2 and obtains a borderless print having no margins in the width direction and the conveyance direction.
[0042]
Next, the rotary drum cleaning means 20 is pressure-bonded to the rotary drum 1, and the rotary drum is rotated to wipe off ink on the rotary drum. Next, the ink absorbing member 202 of the rotary drum cleaning unit 20 is wound up by a predetermined amount (see FIG. 6).
[0043]
As described above, by providing the ink cleaning means on the rotating drum after removing the recording medium, even if the ink is ejected to the outside of the recording medium to create a print having no margin in the width direction, it protrudes onto the rotating drum. Ink can be removed and the recording medium is not soiled during the next printing.
[0044]
The configuration in which the ink absorbing member 202 is pressure-bonded / separated on the rotating drum 1 is not limited to the above, and as shown in FIG. 7, the pair of cleaning rolls 201A and 201B are not the same as each other, and an intermediate roll provided separately. Means for vertically moving 203 may be used.
[0045]
Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0046]
The difference between the form shown in the figure and the first embodiment is that, first, as shown in FIG. 8, a recording medium 2 having a slightly wider width than the rotating drum 1 is wound around the rotating drum 1. It is a point to record to outside.
[0047]
As shown in FIG. 9, this aspect is characterized in that an ink receiving portion 30 that receives ink ejected outside the recording medium 2 is provided. The ink receiving portion 30 is disposed so as not to be fitted and contacted with a recess 31 provided on the side surface of the rotating drum. The ink receiving portion 30 is configured to receive ejected ink, and an ink absorbing member is mounted inside. The material of the ink absorbing member may be the same as described above. The recess 31 in which the ink receiving portion 30 is disposed may be formed in a circular linear shape on the side surface of the rotating drum as shown in FIG. 9, or may be rotated leaving the cylindrical surface of the rotating drum as shown in FIG. The entire drum side surface may be a recess. In any concave form, the ink receiving portion 30 is preferably configured so as not to contact the rotating drum (no contact).
[0048]
The operation of the apparatus having the above configuration will be described. First, as shown in FIG. 8, a recording medium 2 larger than the width of the rotating drum 1 is wound, and an ink receiving portion 30 is provided outside the rotating drum 1, thereby recording. Even if ink is ejected to the outside of the medium 2 to create a print with no margin in the width direction, the ink ejected to the outside of the recording medium can be received by the ink receiving unit 30, so that the ink is scattered in the apparatus and the apparatus And the recording medium is not soiled.
[0049]
Further, the concave portion 31 is provided on the side surface of the rotating drum, and the ink receiving portion 30 is disposed therein, whereby the ink receiving portion 30 can be disposed to the inner side of the rotating drum cylindrical surface, and the recording medium is positioned on the outer side of the rotating drum cylindrical surface. The amount that pops out can be reduced. When the amount of the recording medium that protrudes outside the cylindrical surface of the rotating drum becomes large, the end of the recording medium floats during rotation of the rotating drum, and there is a problem that the image is distorted or touches the recording head and destroys the recording head. However, these problems can be solved in the above embodiment.
[0050]
Next, a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described.
[0051]
In this aspect, as in the first to third embodiments, the recording medium is held on the rotating drum, the rotating drum is rotated, and the recording head is moved in the rotating shaft direction of the rotating drum to perform recording. However, recording is performed only within the width of the recording medium, and after the recording is completed, the cutter is placed on the rotating drum while being held on the rotating drum, so that no recording areas (white edges) at both ends in the width direction of the recording medium are formed. It has a configuration for cutting to obtain a borderless print. As shown in FIG. 11, a preferable embodiment is that cutter insertion portions 40 and 40 are provided on the rotary drum 1 so as to be positioned in the vicinity of the inner sides of both sides 2A and 2B of the wound recording medium 2, and the cutter 41, 41 is placed on the rotary drum 1 and the width of the recording medium is cut while the tip of the cutter is inserted into the cutter insertion portions 40, 40 to obtain a borderless print.
[0052]
Employing the above-described cutter method has an effect that a borderless print can be obtained while being wound around a rotating drum.
[0053]
In the above aspect, the positions of the cutter insertion portions can be provided not only on both sides as shown in FIG. 11 but also so that the print width direction can be divided into a plurality of parts. The cutting in the conveyance direction of the recording medium may be performed by the means shown in FIG.
[0054]
The embodiment of the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention has been described above. However, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and includes various modifications and improvements that can be easily conceived by those skilled in the art.
