Claims (4)
- ガラス板上に特定の偏光成分のみを透過させる偏光子を配列させた偏光板において、
上記偏光子は、10μm以下の長さで構成される金属細線を平行に2本並べることにより1グループとされ、当該グループを上記ガラス板上に縦横方向へ周期的に配列させてなり、さらに上記金属細線の長軸方向と略同一方向の偏光成分のみを透過させること
を特徴とする偏光板。 - 上記金属細線は、200nm〜10μmの長さで構成されていること
を特徴とする請求項1記載の偏光板。 - 上記金属細線の材質は、金、銀、アルミニウムまたは銅とされていること
を特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の偏光板 。 - 上記偏光子は、上記金属細線の長軸方向と略同一方向の偏光成分が入射された場合に、当該金属細線内においてプラズモンを励起させるとともに、その隣接する細線内に励振されたプラズモンとの近接場相互作用に基づいて、上記偏光成分の散乱強度を増強させること
を特徴とする請求項1〜3のうち何れか1項記載の偏光板。
