【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、メッシュあるいはフィルム若しくは布地等の膜状部材と、膜状部材の周縁を保持する枠状の支持部材とから成る座あるいは背凭れ等の椅子の構造物に関する。更に詳述すると、本発明は、例えば着座者の大腿部の裏が当たる座の前垂れ部や背中の上部ないし腰部が当たる背凭れの上端部ないし下端部における膜状部材の支持構造の改良に関する。

【従来の技術】
近年、膜状部材100とその周縁を保持する枠状の支持部材101とから成る図16に示すような座102を有する椅子が提案されている。膜状部材100は、枠状支持部材101によって周囲から引っ張られることにより座102として必要な弾力性を発揮して着座者の身体を支える支持面103を構成するようにしている。この種の座102では、着座時に座102の前端で大腿部を圧迫しないようにするため、座102の前端部に曲面から成る前垂れ部104を形成することが望まれる。

また、膜状部材とその周縁を保持する支持枠とを備える背凭れを有する椅子も提案されている。この場合にも、背中や腰部が当たる背もたれの上端あるいは下端に着座者の身体を圧迫しないようにするため曲面部分(以下、垂れ部とも呼ぶ)を形成することが望まれる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上述した構造の座102では、成形後の枠状支持部材101の収縮等で膜状部材100の張りが低下したり、前垂れ部104付近では膜状部材100が枠状支持部材101の左右の保持辺101aで支持されているだけなので、両側の保持辺101aから離れるに従って張りを失って弛み易く形を保ち難くなる。特に、前垂れ部104の中央部分の膜状部材100は、両側の保持辺101aの支えの影響を強く受けて形を保っている部分に比べて張りが無く弛んでしまうことから、前垂れ部104としての形を保てなくなって図17に示すようにほぼ直線状となっている。

したがって、着座者の大腿が硬い枠状支持部材101の横辺(着座者の身体と交わる位置にある)101bに当たって圧迫されるため、座り心地が悪くなる。また、椅子の不使用時でも前垂れ部104の膜状部材100が弛んで凹んだままに成り易く、椅子の外観も悪くなってしまう。

これを解決するために、前垂れ部104の裏側全域にウレタンを詰め込んだり、ラバーバンドを当てて膜状部材100を補強した座102が開発されている。しかし、これでは補強部材を別に用意しなければならず、部品点数が多くなると共に組立工程が増え好ましくない。また、前垂れ部104の形を保つため、ウレタンやラバーバンドを膜状部材100の裏に設けると、通気性を損ねる等、膜状部材100と枠状支持部材101とで座102を構成する利点を部分的に損ねてしまう。

同様に、背凭れに膜状部材と枠状支持部材とから成る構造物を採用する場合においても、凭れたときに背凭れの上端の膜状部材の垂れ部が潰れて枠状支持部材の上端の横辺部分に首や首筋が当たってしまうので、凭れ心地が良くない。これを避けるために枠状支持部材の上端即ち上横辺部分が着座者の頭よりも上に位置するような背の高い背凭れとすれば良いが、これでは椅子が非常に大型化したりデザインも制限されてしまう。

そこで、本発明は、座り心地や凭れ心地を向上できると共に曲面または屈曲面部分の形を保ち外観を良くし、更にデザインの自由度を上げる座あるいは背凭れ等の椅子の構造物を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
かかる目的を達成するため、請求項1記載の発明は、着座者の身体を支える支持面を構成するメッシュあるいはフィルム若しくは布地等の膜状部材と膜状部材の周縁を保持する枠状の支持部材とを備える座あるいは背凭れ等の椅子の構造物において、枠状支持部材の一部の辺に弾性変形する舌片から成る支持部を備え、該支持部によって膜状部材を支持するようにしている。
これにより、周縁が枠状の支持部材により保持される膜状部材の着座者の身体を支える支持面が支持部によっても弾力的に支持され、着座者の体重が膜状部材と支持部とに分担される。
しかも、支持部の形状や厚さ、若しくは位置等を変更することにより膜状部材の張力を変化させることができるので、張力の異なる複数種類の構造物を容易に提供することができる。

また、請求項2記載の発明は、請求項1記載の座あるいは背凭れ等の椅子の構造物において、枠状支持部材の一部の辺を挟む2つの保持辺の間で形状が整えられた一部の辺と支持面とを繋ぐ膜状部材の曲面または屈曲面部分を2つの保持辺の間で支える支持部を一部の辺に備えるようにしている。
したがって、枠状支持部材の一部の辺の近くの膜状部材の曲面または屈曲面部分は両側の保持辺と支持部とにより短いスパンで支持されるため、膜状部材の張りの弾力性を失わずに着座者の身体を支持することができる。このため、着座者が構造物に体重を掛けたときには、その体重が膜状部材の曲面または屈曲面部分で弾力的に支持されると共に、場合によっては支持部によって直接支持されるようになる。これにより、着座者の身体が支持部材の端部付近で良好なクッション性で支持されながら枠状支持部材の一部の辺に当たって圧迫されることが防止されると共に膜状部材の曲面または屈曲面部分の形を保つことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の構成を図面に示す実施形態に基づいて詳細に説明する。

図1〜図4に本発明の椅子の構造物を座に適用した場合の一実施形態を示す。この構造物は、着座者の身体を支える支持面6を構成するメッシュあるいはフィルム若しくは布地等の膜状部材3と、膜状部材3の周縁を保持する枠状の支持部材(以下、支持枠と呼ぶ)4とを備えて成る座2である。そして、この座2は、支持枠4の一部の辺である横辺8を挟む2つの保持辺である縦辺7の間で形状が整えられた横辺8と支持面6とを繋ぐ膜状部材3の曲面または屈曲面部分10を2つの縦辺7の間で支える支持部(以下、支持片と呼ぶ)9を横辺8に備えるようにしている。このため、支持枠4の横辺8の近くの膜状部材3の曲面または屈曲面部分10は支持枠4の両側の縦辺7とそれらの間の支持片9とにより短いスパンで支持されるため、膜状部材3の張りを失わずに着座者の身体を弾力的に支持することができる。そして、着座者が座2に体重を掛けたときには、その体重が膜状部材3の曲面または屈曲面部分10で弾力的に支持されると共に、場合によっては支持片9によって直接支持されるようになる。これにより、着座者の身体が支持枠4の横辺8に当たって圧迫されることが防止されて座り心地が良好になると共に、膜状部材3の曲面または屈曲面部分10の形を保つことができる。

尚、本実施形態の座2は、スタッキング可能な固定椅子に適用されたものであり、椅子1のフレーム5に対し直接組み付けられる。

ここで、支持片9は、支持枠4の前方の横辺8の中央に設けられている。この支持片9は、横辺8の両端から立ち上がる縦辺7の湾曲形状と同一の湾曲形状を以て、横辺8から離れて形成される支持面6に向けて延びる表裏とも平滑な舌形状に形成され、膜状部材3の曲面・前垂れ部10を支持するように設けられている。ここで、図2及び図4に示すように支持片9の膜状部材3を支持する膜支持面9aと縦辺7の表側面の膜状部材3の前垂れ部10を形成する部位7aとは面一であるようにしている。即ち、支持片9は、横辺8の中央から上方に伸びると共にその上部を後方に曲げて、前面が支持枠4の左右の縦辺7の前面と面一に成ると共に上面が支持枠4の左右の縦辺7の上面と同じ高さに成るように形成されている。このため、図4に示すように支持面6の前端部の膜状部材3を水平に維持して見栄えを良くすることができると共に、前垂れ部10が縦辺7より低く支持されたときに感じる下がり感を防止することができる。さらに、支持片9の後方に伸びた部分は支持面6に深く入り込まない程度の長さ、具体的には着座者の股間が支持片9に当たらない程度の長さにしている。これにより、着座者の股間が支持片9に当たることに因る座り心地の低下を防止できる。

また、支持片9は、自由端側に向かって漸次肉薄に形成されること、より好ましくは幅方向にも両端部に向かう程漸次肉薄に形成される。この場合、図3において二点鎖線で示すように、先端に向かうに従って変形し易く弾力的になるので、膜状部材3が変形する際にそれに従って撓んで膜状部材3との間に段差を生じさせることがない。したがって、着座時に大腿を支える前垂れ部10付近の膜状部材3は支持片9の周囲で段差を形成せずに緩やかに変形するため、大腿部を圧迫せずに支持できる。よって、大腿は前垂れ部10付近で膜状部材3および支持片9により弾性的に支持され、横辺8に当たらない。

支持片9の正面から見た形状は、本実施形態では図4に実線で示すようにほぼ長方形にしている。但し、長方形には限られず同図中二点鎖線で示すようにほぼ台形にしたり、あるいはほぼ三角形にしても良い。このように支持片9の幅や形状や厚さ、更には材質を適宜設定することにより、支持片9の弾性の強さを調整することができる。このため、前垂れ部10付近の膜状部材3として最適な弾力性を得るように支持片9を形成することができる。

支持枠4と支持片9とは例えば単一材質から成るポリプロピレン等の熱可塑性合成樹脂で一体成形されるようにしている。そして、支持枠4及び支持片9は、射出成形等により膜状部材3の周縁と一体化した一体成形品とされている。このため、座2の製造が容易なものとなるので、大量生産を容易に可能とすると共に低コスト化を図ることができる。

また、膜状部材3としてはメッシュ布(例えば、デュポン社製 商品名ダイメトロール)を使用することが好ましい。本実施形態では膜状部材3をメッシュ布にしているが、これには限られず弾性を有すると共に着座者の体重を支持できるポリエステル等の合成樹脂製のネット材やフィルムやビニルや皮や布や金網等の他の材質のものでも良い。

椅子1のフレーム5は、パイプを溶接して組み立てられている。このフレーム5は、例えば座2を支持する座受部11と、背凭れ12を上方から差し込んで支持する背凭れ支持部13とを有している。フレーム5の脚やその他の部分の形状は特に限定されるものではなく、例えば図1に示すように左右1本ずつのパイプを矩形状に折り曲げて成るいわゆるサークル脚を用いたり、あるいは各脚を別個の鉛直なパイプから成るようにしたいわゆる4本脚としても良い。さらに、1本のパイプを折り曲げ加工して脚部と座受部と背支桿部とを形成した所謂カンチレバータイプの脚としても良い。また、本実施形態では背凭れ12を有する椅子1にしているが、これには限られず背凭れ12を有しない椅子1にしても良い。

ここで、座2の支持枠4を座受部11に固定する手段としては特に限定されず、例えば図10に示すように支持枠4の裏側に形成した取付溝18を座受部11に嵌合して位置決めしたままねじ止めしたり、あるいは支持枠4に一体形成または後付けした係止爪を支持枠4にワンタッチで引っ掛けるようにしても良い。いずれの場合も、支持枠4とフレーム5とを固定することができるので、着座者の体重により膜状部材3が引っ張られても支持枠4がフレーム5に対してずれることを防止できる。

一方、背凭れ12は、背中を支持するメッシュ製の膜状部材14と、膜状部材14の周縁に縫い付けられた縁布15と、膜状部材14の左右の縁布15に縫い付けられた上部が閉塞された布製の固定袋16とを備えている。そして、左右の固定袋16をフレーム5の背凭れ支持部13に差し込むことにより、背凭れ12が椅子1に固定されている。本実施形態では背凭れ12をメッシュ製でフレーム5に差し込んで固定するものにしているが、これには限られず背凭れ12自体は本発明の構成を限定するものでは無いので既知のまたは新規の様々な構造の背凭れ12を使用することができる。

以上のように構成された座2は、例えばインサート成形等によって形成される。例えば、射出成形の金型の内部に形成された膜状部材3を保持する突起に膜状部材3を引っ掛けて金型に設置する。あるいは、膜状部材3を金型の外部で保持する。このとき、膜状部材3には座2として要求される予張力を与えておく。

更に、上述した実施形態では、本発明の構造物を座2に適用した例について主に説明しているがこれには特に限られず、背凭れに適用することも可能である。この実施形態の一例を図11および図12に示す。背凭れ22は、前述の座2と同様に、着座者の身体を支える支持面26を構成する膜状部材23とこの膜状部材23の周縁を保持する枠状支持部材(支持枠)24とを備えて成る。そして、この背凭れ22は、支持枠24の着座者の身体と交わる位置にある一部の辺である上端あるいは下端の横辺28を支持面26から離れ身体と直接接触しない位置に形成すると共に、横辺28の近傍で該横辺28を挟んで対向する2つの保持辺である縦辺27の間で形状が整えられ横辺28と支持面26とを繋ぐ膜状部材23の曲面または屈曲面部分(本実施形態では垂れ部と呼ぶ)30を2つの縦辺27の間で支える支持片29を横辺28に備えるようにしている。このため、垂れ部30の膜状部材23は、支持枠24の両側の縦辺27とそれらの間の支持片29とにより短いスパンで支持されるため、張りを失わずに着座者の背中あるいは腰部を弾力的に支持することができ、背中や腰部が支持枠24の上端あるいは下端の横辺28に当たって圧迫されることを防止できると共に垂れ部30の形を保つことができる。また、この背凭れ22はフレーム5に対してねじ止め等により取り付けられるようにしている。
