Description
表皮材は座席の上面を覆うもので一般に布又は革から成る。本発明では、表皮材のうち少なくとも乗員検知用電極を覆う覆い部分を導電化する。導電化のためには覆い部分の上面側に導電布表皮を配置し又は導電性糸(ケーブル)を縫い込み、表皮材の下面全体に導電性ウレタンを配置することができる。導電化された覆い部分は実質的に乗員検知用電極の一部を構成する。なお、表皮材の上面に取り付けた導電布表皮は、表皮材に導電性を付与するとともに、表皮材の外観を向上させる。また、表皮材の下面全体に取り付けた導電性ウレタンは、乗員検知用電極と導電布表皮との間で、導電布表皮が乗員検知用電極と同様の働きをすることを可能にする。
駆動部は乗員検知用電極と車両GNDとの間に電圧を印加する。乗員検知用電極を高電位に、容量低減電位を低電位に駆動しても良いし、その反対に駆動しても良い。ここで、「高電位」とは駆動部の出力側を意味し、低電位とは検出部の入力側を意味する。また、容量低減電極を含む場合、容量低減電極と車両GNDとは同電位となるように駆動する。検出部は乗員検知用電極と車両GNDとの間の静電容量を検出する。なお、容量低減電極を含む場合、容量低減電極と車両GNDとは同電位なので、この両者間の静電容量は検出されない。容量低減電極は必要に応じて乗員検知用電極に対向して配置され、乗員検知用電極と同じ形状を持ち、車両GNDと同電位に駆動される。着席時の乗員検知用電極と車両GNDとの間の静電容量から、非着席時の乗員検知電極と車両GNDとの間の静電容量を低減する。
(イ)構成
図1に示すように、助手席10は座部12及び背もたれ部19から成る。座部12は車両ボディに固定され、背もたれ部19が座部12に対して回動可能に軸支されている。座部12は座席フレーム13、クッション材14及び表皮材15を含み、金属製で骨格を形成する座席フレーム13に発砲樹脂等からなるクッション材14が取り付けられ、クッション材14の上面を表皮材15が覆っている。表皮材15とクッション材14との間に、次述するシート形体の電極ユニット20が介装される。背もたれ部19はその骨格を成す座席フレーム19aを含む。なお、表皮材15の上面に撥水処理を施しても良い。
次に、本実施形態の作用について説明する。図5において、助手席10への乗員(同乗者)の着席時は表皮材15の上に乗員の身体の下半身Bが着席しており、乗員検知用電極25と座席フレーム13との間に下半身Bが介在する。従って、駆動回路45が高周波低電圧を発生すると、乗員検知用電極25が高電位即ち駆動回路45の出力側に駆動され、車両GND42及び容量低減電極30は低電位即ち電流検出回路50の入力側に駆動される。乗員検知用電極25〜下半身B〜車両GND42に静電容量Cbが形成され、車両GND42と乗員検知用電極25との間を流れる電流が電流検出回路50で検出される。
この実施形態の乗員検知システム55によれば、以下の効果が得られる。第1に、助手席10への乗員の着席を電極ユニット20の乗員検知用電極25や、乗員検知ECU40の駆動回路50及び電流検出回路45等により確実に検知できる。また、着席時の静電容量Cbから空席容量Coが低減(除去)されるので、乗員検知用電極25〜下半身B〜座席フレーム13間の静電容量Cbに基づき、乗員の着席を正確に検知できる。これらに関連して、電極ユニット20はシート状なので、フィルム部材22の上面及び下面に乗員検知用電極25及び容量低減電極30を容易に形成できる。
図6に示す第1関連発明では、座席12の表皮材60の中央部(覆い部分)62に撥水処理が施されている。具体的には、表皮材60のうち、乗員検知用電極25の上方に位置する覆い部分62の上面にテフロン(登録商標)を塗布して撥水処理を施している。表皮材60の下側に導電性ウレタン18が取り付けられている。

Claims (3)
- 乗員の座席(10)への着席を検知する乗員検知システム(55)であって、
前記座席内に埋設され着席を検知する静電容量式乗員検知用電極(25)と、
前記座席の上面に取り付けられた表皮材(15)と、
前記表皮材において、少なくとも前記乗員検知用電極を覆う覆い部分(16)の上面に取り付けられた導電布表皮材(17)と、
前記乗員検知用電極と車両GNDとの間に電圧を印加する駆動部(45)と、
前記乗員検知用電極と前記車両GNDとの間の静電容量を検出する検出部(50)と、
を備えたことを特徴とする乗員検知システム。 - 前記表皮材の下面全体に導電性ウレタン(18)が取り付けられている請求項1に記載の乗員検知システム。
- 前記乗員検知用電極に対向して配置され、着席時の前記乗員検知用電極と前記車両GNDに導通された座席フレームとの間の静電容量から、非着席時の該乗員検知用電極と該座席フレームとの間の静電容量を低減する容量低減電極(30)を含む請求項2に記載の乗員検知システム。
