このような問題を解決する手段として、発色液をノズル開口からのインク滴の吐出性能を確保できる2つの要素に分け、各発色液を記録用紙上で反応させることにより、吐出性能を落とすこと無く保存性を高めたインクジェット式記録装置が実用化されている。

このような反応を利用する場合には、発色剤を含有した液を記録用紙に着弾させ、ついで第2の液を混合させるのが望ましいため、発色剤を吐出する記録ヘッドが先頭になる状態でしか印刷ができず、往復印刷が不可能であるため、印刷速度に低下を来すという問題がある。
本発明はこのような問題に鑑みてなされたものであって、その目的とするところは、キャリッジの移動方向に関わりなく、記録用紙上で、2種類の液を一定の順序で混合させて印刷速度の向上を図ることができるインクジェット式記録装置を提供することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
このような問題を解決するために本発明においては、記録用紙の幅方向に往復移動するキャリッジの記録媒体対向面に、第1の色剤を含有する第1の液を吐出する第1のインクジェット式記録ヘッドと、前記第1の液と反応し、前記第1の液の色剤を凝集分離させる透明な第2の液を吐出し、かつ前記第1のインクジェット式記録ヘッドの、両側に配置された第2のインクジェット式記録ヘッドと、前記第1の液を貯蔵するインクカートリッジと、前記第2の液を貯蔵するインクカートリッジを有し、前記第1のインクジェット式記録ヘッドの、前記キャリッジの移動方向の両側に配置されている第2のインクジェット式記録ヘッドに分岐路を介して前記第2の液を貯蔵する1つのインクカートリッジから前記第2の液を供給するようにした。

以上、説明したように本発明によれば、第1の液を液滴として吐出する記録ヘッドの両側に配置されて第2の液を吐出する2つの記録ヘッドを、印刷方向に対応して切替えることにより、記録用紙上で同一の順序で第1、第2の液を混合させることができ、発色具合の変動を招くことなく両方向での印刷ができて印刷速度の向上を図ることができる。
