金属に較べ剛性が低いため、合成樹脂製品をそのまま金
属製品である機関本体にボルト止めしたのではその締付
け力に耐えられず、ボルト止めを行なう個所であるフラ

ンルーム内の温度上昇によって合成樹脂製カバーの構成
部分の熱膨張率が異なってくる。すなわち、ボルトによ
って締付けられ動きの自由度がないフランジ部と、比較
的自由度のあるカバー側壁部とは熱によって合成樹脂の
膨張度合が異なり、かつ機関の振動も固定されたフラン
ジ部と自由度のあるカバー側壁部とは異なった動きをす
るので、膨張と振動の各々の応力が複雑にからみ合って
略直角になっているフランジ部のカバー側壁部の接続個
所である接続部に集中して作用し、接続部にクラックを

壁部との接続部に形成した凹部が、カバー側壁部からの
応力を凹部の形状に沿して分散させ、接続部で生じよう

(実施例) 合成樹脂製カバーの1つであるロッカカバーは、第
1、第2図に示すようにポリプレピレンやナイロン等の
合成樹脂からなり上方が閉塞し下方が開放する箱型で、
その周りの壁であるカバー側壁部1の周縁に、間隔をお
いてフランジ部2が複数設けられ、該フランジ部2の側
壁部1との接続部分で接続部3が形成されている。各フ
ランジ部2にはボルト挿通用の通孔4が穿設されてお
り、通孔4内には高さがフランジ部2の肉厚にほぼ等し
い金属カラー5が嵌合されている。そしてフランジ部2
の側壁部1との接続部3には凹部6が形成されている。
凹部6はフランジ部2の両側および通孔4とカバー側壁
部1から徐々にU字形に掘り下がった構成になってい
る。そしてロッカカバーを機関本体の所定位置に配設
し、その各フランジ部2にワッシャー7を施し金属カラ
ー5のボルト8をそれぞれ挿通し、機関本体のねじ孔に

成樹脂の膨張と機関の振動による複雑な応力が接続部に
加わったとしても、凹部で応力が分散されクラックの発
生がなく、合成樹脂製のカバーを使用することができ
