Abstract
Description
矩形断面で目標幅1.95mmを有しているPTFE繊維を、スロットダイコーティング装置の下に配置しており、ライン速度300m/分でスロットダイノズルからの下向き逃げ角を3.5°とした。0.6cc/rpmのギヤポンプを、スロットダイシステムの計量ポンプとして使用した。水、アラビアゴム、蜜ろう、人工甘味料、活性剤、及び香味料を含んでいるコーティング液を、スロットダイコーティングの供給ホッパー内に入れた。計量ポンプ速度目標は13.65g/分を使用した。熱対流炉を65.6℃(150°F)、PTFE繊維に対して毎分1132.7リットル(毎分40立方フィート(CFM))の空気流量で2.5秒間に設定し、これにより約5%の残留水を有しているコーティングが得られた。コーティング重量目標は湿潤重量2312μg/分、乾燥重量1850μg/分(乾燥製品を残留水分約5%まで乾燥させた)であった。
矩形断面で目標幅1.95mmを有しているPTFE繊維を、ロールコーティングプロセスにも使用した。ロールコーティングプロセスでは、直径30.5cm(12インチ)のロールコーターを使用し、毎分91.4メートル(毎分300フィート)で動くPTFE繊維の上を29rpmで回転させた。ナイフは、2.54cm(1インチ)の千分の一単位で0.17(.17 thousandths)の位置に設定し、ロール上のコーティング量を調節した。PTFE繊維は、ロールの下側で、角度90°でロールに接触した。PTFE繊維は次にRF炉を通過され、コーティングを乾燥させ、残留水分5%とした。実施例1のサンプルに使用したものと同じコーティング液を使用してロールをコーティングしており、これには水、アラビアゴム、蜜ろう、人工甘味料、活性剤、及び香味料を含んでいた。コーティング重量目標値は、湿潤時202.4μm(micron)/cm(514μg/インチ)、乾燥時163.4μm(micron)/cm(415μg/インチ)であった(ここにおいて乾燥製品は残留水分約5%まで乾燥させた)。
Claims (10)
- コーティングされた繊維状基材を備えたデンタルフロスであって、
前記繊維状基材の第1部分のコーティング乾燥重量と、前記繊維状基材の第2部分のコーティング乾燥重量との間の差が30%以下である、デンタルフロス。 - 前記コーティングは、前記繊維状基材の表面の一部のみに存在し、
好ましくは、前記コーティングはストライプの形状であり、
より好ましくは、前記ストライプは、前記繊維状基材の前記第1及び第2部分の長さにわたって連続している、請求項1に記載のデンタルフロス。 - 前記繊維状基材の前記第1及び第2部分は同じ長さを有している、請求項1又は2に記載のデンタルフロス。
- 前記繊維状基材は、前記繊維状基材の幅方向にわたって広がる2つの主表面と、高さ方向にわたって広がる2つの副表面と、を有する矩形の断面形状を有しており、
好ましくは、前記デンタルフロスの幅は約0.7mmから約3.5mmであり、
より好ましくは、前記繊維状基材は複数の表面上にコーティングされており、
選択的には、各主表面はストライプ形状のコーティングを有している、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のデンタルフロス。 - 前記コーティングは活性物質を含んでいる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のデンタルフロス。
- a.第1部分及び第2部分を有している繊維状基材を提供する工程と、
b.前記繊維状基材の表面に活性物質を含んでいるコーティングを適用する工程と、を備え、これにより前記第1部分のコーティング乾燥重量と、前記第2部分のコーティング乾燥重量との間の差が30%以下となる、デンタルフロスの製造方法。 - 前記コーティングは、前記繊維状基材の幅方向にわたって広がる2つの主表面と、高さ方向にわたって広がる2つの副表面と、を有する矩形の断面形状を有している繊維状基材に適用され、
好ましくは、前記コーティングはストライプの形状であり、前記繊維状基材の1つの主表面の中央近くに配置され、
より好ましくは、前記ストライプは実質的に均一な幅を有している、請求項6に記載の方法。 - 前記第1及び第2部分は同じ長さを有している、請求項6又は7に記載の方法。
