Abstract

  The present invention relates to a decoration for non-food, a kit related to the decoration, and a method for manufacturing the decoration. Description

  The present invention relates to a decorative device and a manufacturing method thereof. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a non-food decoration that allows the non-food to be decorative and attractive to the user.

  It may be desirable to decorate non-food items to be more attractive to the user, or to decorate non-food items for certain seasons or celebrations. For example, a pencil can be decorated by attaching a decorative eraser or ornament to the non-writing end of the pencil.   The present invention relates to decorating a device to be more attractive and intriguing to the user.   FIG. 1 illustrates one exemplary embodiment of the present invention.   FIG. 2 shows another exemplary embodiment of the present invention where the non-food item is an applicator. The applicator 40 has a body 42 and a cap 52 that contain the material 44. The body includes a first end 46, a second end 50, and an intermediate portion 48 located between the first and second ends. In the embodiment of FIG. 2, reference numerals 48a and 48b delineate the intermediate portion 48 and the first and second ends. The first end of the body is designed to hold the cap 52. Material 44 can be any viscous, flexible, or abrasive material. Examples include, but are not limited to, adhesives, paints, lip balms, and lipsticks. When the material 44 is an adhesive, the applicator is typically called a stick glue.

  In one embodiment, the adhesive is non-toxic as defined in the Federal Dangerous Goods Labeling Act and complies with ASTM D-4236. In another embodiment, the adhesive is a permanent adhesive. As used herein, the term “permanent adhesive” is generally used when an adhesive is applied to a target surface (eg, paper, cloth, or photograph) and the surface is applied to a substrate. It means that the adhesion between the target surface and the substrate is of a strength that cannot be removed from each other without damaging at least one or the other. In another embodiment, the adhesive is a repositionable adhesive. As used herein, the term “repositionable adhesive” refers to substantially no or almost no damage when the target surface is removed from the substrate (or vice versa). Means that.   The decoration of FIG. 2 may be of a design that shifts the center of gravity of the applicator or non-food when attached to the first end of the applicator.   FIG. 3 shows an exemplary adornment having a first part 70 and a second part 76.   Decorative articles and decorative bases can be made from a variety of materials including, but not limited to, injection molded polymers, thermoformed polymers, molded plastics, stamped plastics or metals, and extruded polymers. Some exemplary polymers include polystyrene, high impact polystyrene, polyethylene, polyurethane, rubber, and elastomer. They can also be made from other materials such as wood, metal, or ceramic. The decorative article and the decorative base can be formed as a single piece (eg, injection molded) and attached to a non-food item or applicator with an interference fit. The ornament and the ornament base can be joined after being made with a plurality of parts, as shown in FIGS. 3, 4, and 5.

  In one embodiment, the decorative article and the decorative base are sized to meet regulations that reduce the risk of suffocation for children under the age of three.
