<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute the retrieval and browse of data for a network constituted of an LAN/WAN or the Internet, and to execute the processing, printing and transfer of the data and charging management. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus 1 is provided with: an image forming means 18 for printing out an image; an Internet connecting means 11; an LAN/WAN connecting means 12 for connecting to the server device of the predetermined LAN/WAN through the Internet; and a data output instructing means 13 for instructing data output stored in the predetermined storing means in the LAN/WAN to the server device. 【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、画像形成装置、該画像形成装置を用いたデータ出力システム、画像形成方法、データ出力方法、これらを実現するプログラム及び記録媒体に関し、より具体的には、通信機能を有する画像形成装置によって社内ＬＡＮ等に保持されている文書や画像データを遠隔から取り出し、加工を行い印刷することができ、さらにはメール配信を行うことができるようにした技術に関する。

【従来の技術】
例えば、企業等の営業活動等において、営業担当者が予めパソコン等によって資料を作成して客先等へ出向き、その資料を用いて商品説明等を行うことがごく普通に行われている。例えば、出先において資料などの不備や不良が発見された場合には、営業担当者は、その資料の枚数に係わらず、電話などで自分の事業所等に連絡をとって在勤者に資料を送信してもらうということが行われている。この場合に、営業担当者が在勤者に依頼して、自分のパソコンを操作をしてもらって、該当する文書を探し出し、それを印刷して出先あるいは所定のＦＡＸ装置にＦＡＸ送信してもらうという方法をとっていた。しかしながら、このような方法は、時間，紙資源，通信費等に多くの無駄を生じ、さらに他人に迷惑をかけるという問題がある。

また、上記のような営業担当者等が、モバイルのパソコンを持ち歩いていて、そのモバイルパソコンに資料を転送してもらうようにした場合であっても、文書のファイルサイズによっては転送する時間もかかり、また、仮に転送できたとしてもその出先のプリンタを借りなければならないという問題が生じる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
データベースから遠隔の端末装置に出力させたデータは、閲覧のみならず、印刷や各種の加工、転送等のニーズが生じる。あるいは、情報の閲覧・提供サービスを実施するために、データの管理、情報の更新、課金及び回収処理、等の機能が必要となる。

例えば、１つの機器において、オンラインを介したデータの検索、閲覧、そのデータの加工、及び印刷、転送、さらに課金管理に至る機能を網羅し、ユーザがその機器によってデータベースのデータを閲覧し、課金処理まで実行できるようにしたシステムは提供されていない。また、データの加工においては、文書の編集のみならず、各種メディアからデータを入力し、そのデータを上記検索データに合成したいというようなニーズも生じる。これら機能を網羅した機器システムと、この機器システムを利用したサービス提供は実施されていない。これは、上記特許文献１においても同様である。

本発明は、上述のごとき実情に鑑みてなされたもので、社内ＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮ等のクローズなネットワークに対して、公衆ネットワークを介してオンラインでデータを検索、閲覧し、そのデータを加工及び印刷、転送、さらに課金管理を実行することができ、ユーザに高い利便性を付与するとともに、データの提供サービスを有効に実施できるようにした画像形成装置、データ出力システム、画像形成方法、データ出力方法、及びこれらを実行するプログラム及び記録媒体を提供することを目的とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
請求項１の発明は、画像データに基づいた画像を媒体に形成して出力する画像形成手段を有する画像形成装置であって、該画像形成装置は、インターネット接続手段と、該インターネット接続手段によって接続したインターネットを介して、所定のＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮのサーバ装置に接続するＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮ接続手段と、該ＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮ接続手段によって接続した前記サーバ装置に対して、該ＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮ内の所定の記憶手段に記憶されたデータ出力を指示するデータ出力指示手段と、該データ出力指示手段による指示情報に応じて前記サーバ装置から出力されたデータを加工するデータ加工手段と、該画像形成装置の各種処理制御に関する操作入力を受け付ける操作入力手段とを有し、前記ＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮのサーバ装置から送信されたデータを受信した際、前記操作入力手段に対する操作入力に従って、前記データ加工手段が受信データを加工し、もしくはデータ加工手段を経由しない未加工のままで、加工後もしくは未加工の受信データを前記画像形成手段が出力することを特徴としたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下に本発明の実施形態を添付された図面を参照して具体的に説明する。なお、実施形態を説明するための全図において、同様の機能を有する部分には、同じ符号を付け、その繰り返しの説明は省略する。

図１は、本発明の画像形成装置を利用したデータ出力システムの構成例を説明するための図である。画像形成装置１は、公衆回線網に接続してインターネット２に接続可能である。一方、社内ＬＡＮ３には、サーバ装置４と、クライアント端末５とが接続される。ここで、社内ＬＡＮは、ＷＡＮであってもよい。

画像形成装置１は、インターネット経由で社内ＬＡＮ３に接続する。すなわち、画像形成装置のインターネット接続手段によってインターネットに接続し、社内ＬＡＮのファイヤウォールを通過できる通信プロトコルもしくは認証情報を有する接続要求信号を送信することによって、社内ＬＡＮ３のサーバ装置４に接続する。社内ＬＡＮ３のサーバ装置４に外部から接続するための技術は、公知の技術を適用することができる。

画像形成装置１は、接続したサーバ装置４に対して、例えばクライアント端末５に記憶した所定の文書データの検索を要求すると、サーバ装置４がそれに応えて文書データを検索し、画像形成装置１に検索結果を返す。そして画像形成装置１から検索データの出力要求がサーバ装置４に送信されると、サーバ装置４が該当するクライアント端末５から該当データを抽出して、画像形成装置１に送信する。

上記のような機能によって、画像形成装置１を使用するユーザは、インターネットを介して、所定のＬＡＮ（あるいはＷＡＮ）の端末装置に保持されているデータを遠隔から取り出すことができる。
画像形成装置１は、例えば、コンビニエンスストアや郵便局などの全国的に存在する施設に設置しておくことにより、ユーザは出先や身近な画像形成装置１の設置場所に出向くことによって、画像形成装置１をサテライトオフィス的に使用することできる。

図２は、本発明に係わる画像形成装置の一実施形態を説明するためのブロック図である。画像形成装置１は、インターネット接続を可能とするインターネット接続手段１１と、インターネット接続手段１１によって接続したインターネットを介して、所定のＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮに接続するＬＡＮ／ＷＡＮ接続手段１２と、接続したＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮのサーバ装置に対して、ＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮ内のデータ検索を行うデータ検索手段１６と、検索したデータをＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮ内から抽出して画像形成装置１に出力する指示を行うデータ出力指示手段１３と、上記ＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮから出力されたデータを加工するデータ加工手段１４と、データ加工手段１４で加工したデータを画像形成して出力する画像形成手段１８とを備えている。

図３は、本発明の画像形成装置の他の実施形態を説明するためのブロック図である。図３の構成は、図２の構成に加えて、電子メールの送受信を可能とする電子メール送受信手段１９を備えるものである。電子メール送受信手段１９は、メールソフトウェアとＣＰＵ及びメモリ、通信インターフェース等のハードウェアによって実現される。ユーザは、電子メール送受信手段１９を利用することによって、インターネット介して取得したデータや、上記のごとくのデータ加工手段１４を用いて各種の編集や合成加工したデータを、所望の送信相手先に電子メール送信することができる。

さらに図４の構成では、予め用意した各種の出力フォームを記憶しておく、出力フォーム記憶手段２３を有している。例えば、出力フォームとして、契約書や見積書、発注書等の書式フォームを用意しておき、データ加工手段１４がユーザによる指示に従って、所定のフォームを呼び出し、このフォームに上述のごとくの各種データを任意に合成することができる。

ここで、書式フォームとして、電子自治体に対して申請もしくは申告を行うために定められた書式を用意しておくことにより、画像形成装置１のユーザは、電子自治体に申請または申告する書類データを容易に作成することができ、また、作成した申請／申告書類データは、そのままインターネット接続手段１１によって電子自治体に送信し、申請／申告することができる。

また、例えば広告チラシを作成したいような場合でも、インターネット接続手段１１を利用して、各種のホームページから必要なコンテンツをダウンロードし、データ加工手段１４を利用して、ダウンロードしたコンテンツを用いて広告チラシを容易に作成することができる。データ加工手段１４では、ごく一般的なカットアンドペースト機能や各種の編集機能を備えることによって、広告チラシの作成を容易にする。また、このときに、上述のような所定のフォームを用いたり、媒体や画像読み取り手段から入力したデジタルデータや、ファクシミリや電子メールによって受信したデータを合成するようにしてもよい。

同様に、例えば、自治会などの関連資料（例えば決算報告書や行事計画書）を作成する場合や、建設関連の役所や関連部署への提出書類、あるいは見積書等を作成する場合であっても、上記のようなインターネット接続手段１１やデータ加工手段１４を利用することによって、所望の資料を容易かつ高品質に作成することができる。

そして、上記のような広告チラシや自治会関連資料、あるいは建設関連資料を例とする各種の作成資料は、電子メール送受信手段１９を用いて、電子メールにより配信することができ、ユーザに高い利便性を供することができる。

図５は、本発明の画像形成装置の更に他の実施形態を説明するためのブロック図である。図５の構成は、図４の構成に加えて、マイクによる音声入力手段２４と、音声入力手段２４に入力した音声を認識して音声データを生成する音声認識手段２５とを有するものである。音声認識手段２５によって認識されて出力された音声データは、操作入力手段１５に対する操作入力の１つとして処理される。これによって、ユーザは、上述した各種の処理の操作入力を音声によって実行することができるようになる。

図６は、本発明の画像形成装置の更に他の実施形態を説明するためのブロック図である。図６の構成は、図５の構成に加えて、有料データの出力サイトを提供するサーバ装置に対して、課金金額の決済情報を送信するための決済情報出力手段２６を有するものである。決済情報出力手段２６は、プログラムによって実現されるもので、インターネット介してダウンロードするデータ対して、課金情報が入力した際に、その課金情報の課金金額が決済されたことを示す決済情報を所定のサーバ装置に出力させるものである。

例えば、ユーザがウェブサイトからデータをダウンロードしようとする際に、課金金額がサーバ側から通知されると、ユーザはその課金金額を決済し、決済情報をサーバに返すようにする。決済方法は、任意に決定できるが、例えば、画像形成装置が設置された店舗の店員に課金金額を支払い、店員が認証情報とともに決済済みであるこをを示す情報を画像形成装置に入力するようにしてもよい。また、画像形成装置に図示しない金銭投入装置を設け、課金金額が金銭投入装置に投入された際に、決済情報出力手段２６が決済情報を出力するようにしてもよい。また、インターネット上で、クレジットカード等による電子決済をユーザが実行し、その決済情報をサーバに返すようにしてもよい。

図７は、本発明のデータ出力システムに関する一実施形態を説明するための図で、画像形成装置１にデータを提供するサーバ装置４のブロック図である。サーバ装置４は、ＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮに接続され、ＬＡＮまたはＷＡＮ内のクライアント端末や他のサーバ装置に保持されているデータを検索し、抽出して画像形成装置１に送信することができる。

また、画像処理制御部１２４には、多量の画像データの蓄積やジョブ履歴等の記憶装置となるＨＤＤ１２５，装置内部に設けられた集線装置であるＨＵＢ（図示せず）を介して画像処理ユニットＢをＬＡＮ等に接続するための通信制御部１２３，ＦＡＸ制御を行うＦＡＸ制御部１２６が接続されている。このＦＡＸ制御部１２６は、公衆電話網に通じる、図示しない構内交換器（ＰＢＸ）に接続されており、画像形成装置１０１は、遠隔のファクシミリ装置と交信することができる。

加えて、画像処理制御部１２４には、表示制御部１３２及び操作入力制御部１３１が接続されている。表示制御部１３２は、画像処理制御部１２４の制御によって制御パネルＩ／Ｆ１３３に接続された通信ケーブル１３４を介して情報処理ユニットＡに対して画像表示制御信号を出力し、情報処理ユニットＡの操作パネル１２０に対して画像表示の制御を行う。また、操作入力制御部１３１は、情報処理ユニットＡの操作パネル１２０からのオペレータによる機能設定や入力操作に応じた入力制御信号を、画像処理制御部１２４の制御によって制御パネルＩ／Ｆ１３３に接続された通信ケーブル１３４を介して入力する。すなわち、画像処理ユニットＢは、情報処理ユニットＡの操作パネル１２０を通信ケーブル１３４を介して直接モニタすることができる構成になっている。

したがって、画像処理ユニットＢは、従来の画像形成装置が備える画像処理ユニットに対して通信ケーブル１３４を接続し、情報処理ユニットＡの操作パネル１２０を利用するようにしたものである。すなわち、画像処理ユニットＢの表示制御部１３２及び操作入力制御部１３１は、操作パネル１２０に接続されているものとして動作している。

上記構成により、画像処理ユニットＢは、外部（サーバコンピュータ、クライアント端末、ファクシミリ装置等）からの画像情報である印刷データ及びプリント指示するコマンドを解析し、印刷データを出力画像データとして印刷できる状態にビットマップ展開し、印刷モードをコマンドから解析し動作を決定している。その印刷データ及びコマンドを通信制御部１２３あるいはＦＡＸ制御部１２６を通じて受信する。

情報処理ユニットＡは、一般にパーソナルコンピュータといわれるような情報処理装置に用いられる汎用のＯＳによって制御されるマイクロコンピュータ構成とされている。情報処理ユニットＡは、メインプロセッサであるＣＰＵ１１２ａを有しており、このＣＰＵ１１２ａには、ＣＰＵ１１２ａの作業用領域となるＲＡＭ，起動プログラムや本発明に係わる処理を実行するためのプログラムなどを記憶した読出し専用メモリであるＲＯＭで構成されるメモリユニット１１２ｂと、ＯＳやアプリケーションプログラム、更に、上記各実施形態で説明したごとくの本発明に係わる各種プログラムのデータを記憶するＨＤＤ等の記憶装置１２２に対するデータの入出力を制御する記憶装置制御部１２１とが、バス接続されている。

ＣＰＵ１１２ａには、情報処理ユニットＡをＨＵＢ（図示せず）を介してＬＡＮ等に接続するための通信制御部１１１が接続されている。この通信制御部１１１に割り当てられるネットワークアドレスであるＩＰアドレスは、前述した画像処理ユニットＢの通信制御部１２３に割り当てられるＩＰアドレスとは異なるように設定してもよい。この場合、本実施形態の画像形成装置１０１には、２つのＩＰアドレスが割り当てられていることになる。つまり、画像処理ユニットＢと情報処理ユニットＡとはＬＡＮ等に接続されていることになり、画像処理ユニットＢと情報処理ユニットＡとの間においてはデータ交換が可能な構成になっている。
