【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、複写機や自動券売機、パーソナルコンピュータなどのような電子機器の操作、または電話音声自動応答サービスの利用に使用されるユーザインターフェース装置と操作方法に関するもので、さらに詳しくは、操作者にとってより分かりやすく効率良く操作できるような音声ガイダンスにしたがって操作するユーザインターフェース装置と操作方法に関するものである。本発明は、視覚障害者が複写機や自動券売機、パーソナルコンピュータなどのような電子機器を操作する時に好適である。

【従来の技術】
近年、音声ガイダンスにしたがって操作するようなユーザインターフェースは、私たちの日常生活の中で広く使われている。たとえば、視覚障害者がパーソナルコンピュータを操作するときに使うスクリーンリーダーや、２４時間電話で利用できる電話注文や予約の電話音声自動応答サービスである。
また、特開２００１−１２５７６６公報には、複雑なボタン操作を回避するため、音声ガイダンスにしたがって、一つの操作ボタンで操作するユーザインターフェースが提案されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、上記のような音声ガイダンスを利用して操作する際、選択対象となる操作メニュー項目そのものはどういう意味で、どういう操作ができるかは分からなく、戸惑ってしまったり、所望の操作メニューでないものを選択してしまったりするケースはよくある。
本発明は、操作メニュー選択が容易で操作ミスの発生を抑制することができるヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置およびヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース操作方法を提供することを目的とする。

前記目的を達成するために、請求項１記載の発明は、操作者が音声ガイダンスにしたがって、階層化した操作メニューから所望の操作メニュー項目を選択し、電子機器を操作するユーザインターフェース装置であって、操作メニューを音声で出力する操作メニュー音声出力手段、階層化した操作メニューの中で操作メニューが移動する操作メニュー移動手段、操作者所望の操作メニューを選択する操作メニュー選択手段、操作者の知りたい操作メニューを指定するヘルプ指定手段、前記ヘルプ指定手段で指定された操作メニューの説明文を音声で出力するヘルプ音声出力手段を備えたヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置を最も主要な特徴とする。
請求項２記載の発明は、操作者が電話を介し音声ガイダンスにしたがって、階層化した操作メニューから所望の操作メニュー項目を選択し、電話音声自動応答サービスを利用するユーザインターフェース装置であって、選択可能な操作メニュー候補を順次に音声で出力する操作メニュー音声出力手段、前記選択可能な操作メニュー候補から操作者所望の操作メニューを選択する操作メニュー選択手段、操作者の知りたい操作メニューを指定するヘルプ指定手段、前記ヘルプ指定手段で指定された操作メニューの説明文を音声で出力するヘルプ音声出力手段を備えたヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置を最も主要な特徴とする。
請求項３記載の発明は、請求項１と請求項２に記載されているヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置であって、前記ヘルプ音声出力手段によって、音声出力される操作者の知りたい操作メニューの説明文は、該当操作メニューの意味、またはそのメニューに含まれる操作内容を表す文書であるヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置を主要な特徴とする。
請求項４記載の発明は、請求項１と請求項２に記載されているヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置であって、操作者が、前記操作メニューの音声出力途中と出力後、どちらの場合でも前記ヘルプ指定手段で知りたい操作メニューを指定でき、前記操作メニューの音声出力途中に、ユーザの知りたい操作メニューが指定された場合、前記操作メニューの出力中音声はその時点で中断されるヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置を主要な特徴とする。

請求項８記載の発明は、操作者が電話を介し、音声ガイダンスにしたがって、階層化した操作メニューから所望の操作メニュー項目を選択し、電話音声自動応答サービスを利用するユーザインターフェース操作方法であって、選択可能な操作メニュー候補を順次に音声で出力するステップ、前記選択可能な操作メニュー候補から操作者所望の操作メニューを選択するステップ、操作者の知りたい操作メニューを指定するステップ、指定された操作メニューの説明文を音声で出力するステップを備えたヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース操作方法を最も主要な特徴とする。
本発明では、音声ガイダンスにしたがって操作するユーザインターフェース装置にヘルプ機能を持たせる。このヘルプ機能は一つまたは複数個のボタンからならヘルプ指定手段と、ヘルプ音声出力手段によって実現される。操作者は、音声ガイダンスにしたがって、操作する時、音声ガイダンスから流れてくる操作メニュー項目の意味がよく分からない時、前記ヘルプ指定手段を使い、その操作メニューを指定すると、前記ヘルプ音声出力手段によって、指定された操作メニューの説明文が音声で出力される。そうすることによって、ユーザは、操作メニューを選択する前に、はっきりとその操作メニューはどういう操作をするか把握できる。その結果、操作ミスは少なくなり、音声ガイダンスに従う操作をより快適に行うことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
ここでは、電子機器を操作する時と電話音声自動応答サービスを利用する時という二つの場合に分けて、本発明のヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置の実施形態について説明する。
（１）電子機器を操作する場合における、本発明のヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置の実施形態についての説明。
図１は本発明の実施の形態に係るヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置の全体構成図である。音声出力部１は、電子機器に取りつけたスピーカであって、操作メニューと、ヘルプ指定手段で指定された操作メニューの説明文は、音声出力部１によって、音声出力される。ボタン操作部２は、複数のボタンから構成される。階層化した操作メニュー中での移動、操作メニューの選択、操作者の知りたい操作メニューの指定は、このボタン操作部２によって実現される。
記憶部３は、電子機器内蔵のハードディスクであって、各操作メニューとその説明文の音声データおよび本ヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェースを実現する制御プログラムが格納されている。制御部４は、電子機器のＣＰＵで構成され、本ヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェースを実現する制御プログラムを実行する。

図２はボタン操作部のレイアウト図である。図２に示しているのは、複写機の操作パネルの一部であって、ボタン操作部２に関わる部分のみである。ここで、▲▼などの矢印ボタンはメニュー移動ボタン１１であって、それぞれ階層化した操作メニューの中で、操作メニューの現在位置より、同じ階層での左右移動と、該当操作メニューの直上と直下のあるメニュー項目への移動に使われる。たとえば、複写機の操作メニューは、図３に示すようになっている。現在位置が“拡大（Ｍ１１）”の場合、右向きの矢印を一回押すと、現在位置は“縮小（Ｍ１２）”に移り、▲（上向きの矢印）を一回押すと、現在位置は“変倍（Ｍ０２）”に移り、▼（下向きの矢印）を一回押すと、現在位置は“１１５％（Ｍ２１）”に移るといった類である。
ボタン？は、ヘルプ指定ボタン１２であって、ヘルプ指定ボタン１２が押されると、現在位置にある操作メニューの説明文が音声出力される。ボタン＃は、メニュー選択ボタン１３であって、メニュー選択ボタン１３が押されると、現在位置にある操作メニューが選択され、操作はその操作メニュー通りに設定される。

図４は電子機器を操作する場合における、本発明の実施の形態に係るユーザインターフェース装置の動作例を示すフローチャートである。まず、操作開始し（Ｓ０１）、操作メニューは音声出力される（Ｓ０２）。電子機器は複写機で、図３の操作メニュー例の場合、最初に“部数”は音声出力される。
次に、操作メニューの音声出力と同時に、ユーザインターフェース装置側は、操作者によるボタン入力があるかどうかをチェックする（Ｓ０３）。ここでのボタン入力は、ヘルプ指定ボタン入力、メニュー移動ボタン入力、メニュー選択ボタン入力の３種類がある。操作メニューの音声出力中に、いずれかのボタンが押された場合、操作メニューの音声出力はその時点で中断され、押されたボタンによる動作に移行する。
ヘルプ指定ボタン１２が押された場合（Ｓ０４）、その時点に音声出力された操作メニューについての説明文が音声で出力される（Ｓ０５）。たとえば、操作メニューが前記“部数”の場合、“コピー部数についての設定です。数字でご指定ください。”のような説明文が音声出力される。音声出力と同時に、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ０３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。
また、ヘルプ指定ボタン１２が押されていない場合も、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ０３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。ヘルプ指定ボタン１２が複数回押されると、押されるたびに説明文の先頭から繰り返される（Ｓ０５）。
メニュー移動ボタン１１が押された場合（Ｓ０６）、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ０２）に戻り、移動先の操作メニューは音声出力される。メニュー移動ボタン１１が押された時、ヘルプ音声出力中の場合、その時点でヘルプ音声が中断される。また、メニュー移動ボタン１１が押されていない場合、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ０３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。
メニュー選択ボタン１３が押された場合（Ｓ０７）、ユーザインターフェース装置側は、選択された操作メニュー通りに操作設定をする（Ｓ０８）。メニュー選択ボタン１３が押されていない場合、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ０３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。

次に操作者による操作例を説明する。ここでは、複写機の操作で、Ｂ４の原稿をＡ３に拡大変倍に設定する操作を例として説明する。操作メニュー全体は図３に示している通りである。ボタン操作部２は図２に示している通りである。また、各メニューについての説明文は、図５に示している対応図表の通りである。各説明文ごとに音声ファイルとして、本ユーザインターフェース装置の記憶部３に保存されている。
図６は操作者による複写機の操作例を示す図である。まず、ユーザインターフェース装置の音声出力部１から、“部数”が音声出力される。そして、メニュー移動ボタン１１の右矢印ボタンを押すと（Ｓ１１）、操作メニュー“変倍”に移り、“変倍”と音声出力される。
ここで、“変倍”についての説明を聞きたい場合、ヘルプ指定ボタン１２を押す（Ｓ１２）。そうすると、ユーザインターフェース装置側は、記憶部３に記憶されている操作メニューの説明文と音声ファイルの対応図表から、“変倍”についての説明文を選択し、その音声ファイルＤＡＴ００２．ｗＡｖが音声出力部１から音声出力される。図５によると、“原稿のサイズを拡大または縮小してコピーする設定操作です。”というような説明音声である。
操作者の所望の操作は、変倍に関するものなので、ここで、メニュー移動ボタン１１の下矢印ボタンを押し（Ｓ１３）、“変倍”の下位にある“拡大”に移る。すると“拡大”という音声が音声出力部１から出力される。

操作者は、Ｂ４原稿をＡ３に拡大変倍に設定したいので、ここで、メニュー選択ボタン１３を押し、この操作メニューを選択する。そうすると、ユーザインターフェース装置側は、１１５％拡大を設定する。

図７は電話音声自動応答サービスを提供するシステムの構成図である。電話２１とホストコンピュータ２２は、ネットワーク２３を介して接続されている。電話２１は、ホストコンピュータ２２からの音声ガイダンスまたはヘルプ音声の出力と、操作者によるボタン入力に使われる。ホストコンピュータ２２は、ネットワーク２３を介し、操作者の電話によるボタン操作内容を受け取り、該当する音声ガイダンスまたはヘルプ音声を電話２１に送り、操作者によって、操作ニュー選択されると、選択された操作メニュー通りに処理を行う。
図１に示す本発明の実施の形態に係るヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェース装置において、音声出力部１は、電話２１のスピーカであって、選択できる操作メニュー候補と、ヘルプ指定手段で指定された操作メニューの説明文は、音声出力部１によって音声出力される。ボタン操作部２は、電話２１の操作ボタンから構成される。操作メニューの選択、操作者の知りたい操作メニューの指定は、このボタン操作部２によって実現される。
記憶部３は、ホストコンピュータ２２内蔵のハードディスクであって、各操作メニューとその説明文の音声データおよび本ヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェースを実現する制御プログラムが格納されている。制御部４は、ホストコンピュータ２２のＣＰＵで構成され、と本ヘルプ機能付きユーザインターフェースを実現する制御プログラムを実行する。

ここでは、銀行の電話音声自動応答サービスを利用する場合の操作例について説明する。操作者が自分の口座残高をチェックする操作を例とする。ボタン選択部２は、０〜９までの数字ボタンとメニュー選択ボタン１３によって実現される。操作メニューの選択は、０〜９までの数字ボタンが使われる。また、メニュー選択ボタン１３と０〜９までの数字ボタンでヘルプ指定を行う。
図８は電話音声自動応答サービスを利用する場合における、本発明の実施の形態に係るユーザインターフェース装置の動作例を示すフローチャートである。銀行の電話音声自動応答サービスの操作メニューは、図９に示している通りである。
まず、操作を開始し（Ｓ２１）、選択できる操作メニュー候補は順次に音声出力される（Ｓ２２）。ここでは、“こちらは、電話音声自動応答サービスです。ご希望のメニュー番号をご選択ください。残高照会は一番、取引照会は二番、登録情報変更は三番をご選択ください。”のような音声ガイダンスである。
次に、操作メニューの音声出力と同時に、ユーザインターフェース装置側は、操作者によるボタン入力があるかどうかをチェックする（Ｓ２３）。ここでのボタン入力は、ヘルプ指定ボタン入力、メニュー選択ボタン入力の２種類がある。操作メニューの音声出力中に、いずれかのボタンが押された場合、操作メニューの音声出力はその時点で中断され、押されたボタンによる動作に移行する。
ここで、たとえば、操作者は、“２．取引照会”についての説明を聞きたい場合、“＃”と“２”のボタンを押すと（Ｓ２４）、指定された操作メニュー“２．取引照会”についての説明文が音声で出力される（Ｓ２５）。たとえば、“お客様の過去１ヶ月間のお取引内容を照会します。お客様のご登録のファックス番号にファックスを送ります。”のような説明音声である。
音声出力と同時に、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ２３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。また、ヘルプ指定されている場合も、ユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ２３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。ヘルプ指定は複数されると、指定されるたびに説明文の先頭から繰り返される（Ｓ２５）。
操作者は、自分の口座残高を知りたいので、“１”のボタンを押し、“１．残高照会”を選択する（Ｓ２６）。ユーザインターフェース装置側は、選択された操作メニュー“１．残高照会”通りに動作し（Ｓ２７）、操作者の口座残高を音声で出力する。また、メニュー選択されていないユーザインターフェース装置側の動作は、ステップ（Ｓ２３）に戻り、続けてボタン入力をチェックする。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明によれば、日常生活によく利用している音声ガイダンスにしたがって操作するユーザインターフェースにヘルプ指定手段を設け、操作メニューの意味または操作内容を、ヘルプ指定手段によって確認することができるようにしたので、操作者による操作メニュー選択が容易になり、操作ミスを回避することができる。したがって操作者にとって、より使いやすいユーザインターフェースを提供することができる。
