ペットボトルに代表されるような合成樹脂製の容器は、軽量で取り扱いが容易であり、透明性が確保できガラス製の容器に比較して遜色のない外観を呈すること、さらには、コスト的にも安価であることから近年、飲料や調味料、酒類、洗剤あるいは薬剤等を充填する容器として多用されている。

容器の形状も円形断面を有するものや角型断面を有するもの等があり、充填する内容物の種類や容器の容量に応じてその使い分けがなされており、その胴部には、普通、商品名を表示するとともに他の商品との区別を図るデザインを施したラベルが装着されている。

ラベルとしては、接着剤を使用せず熱を付与することにより簡単に装着できるポリプロピレンやポリスチレンあるいはポリエチレンテレフタレート製のシュリンクラベルが適用されているが、とくに、角型容器にかかるラベルを装着すると、そのコーナ部での緩みや弛みが生じ、容器の径方向に荷重が作用して外観形状が変形した場合等にラベルにしわが発生し商品価値を低下させる不具合があった。

角型容器におけるラベルの緩みや弛みは、容器の外部から付加される荷重に対する剛性を確保のために、コーナ部の壁面に凹部を設けることに起因しており、この点に関しては、上胴部のコーナ部の横断面形状を凸曲面としてそこに接着剤を介して紙ラベルを装着した角型プラスチックボトルが知られている(特許文献1参照)。

本発明の課題は、容器の剛性に影響を与えることなしにラベルをきっちりと装着することができる新規な容器を提案するところにある。

本発明は、間隔をおいて対向配置された一対の主面壁と、この主面壁を両側に挟んで対向配置された一対のサイド壁と、主面壁及びサイド壁をそれぞれつなぐ四つのコーナ壁からなる胴部を備え、これら主面壁、サイド壁及びコーナ壁にて取り囲まれた空間領域を内容物の充填空間とする合成樹脂製角型容器であって、前記各コーナ壁に縦長状の凹部を設けると共に、上下を該凹部に挟まれその端縁が主面壁、サイド壁のそれぞれにつながり該コーナ壁と同一平面をなす少なくとも一つの梁を設けたことを特徴とする合成樹脂製角型容器である。

以下、図面を参照して本発明をより具体的に説明する。

図1〜図4は本発明に従う角型容器の実施の形態を示したものである。
図において1A、1Bは互いに間隔をおいて対向配置された一対の主面壁、2A、2Bは主面壁1A、1Bを両側に挟んで対向配置された一対のサイド壁、3A〜3Dは主面壁1A、1Bおよびサイド壁2A、2Bをそれぞれつなぐコーナ壁であり、これら主面壁1A、1B、サイド壁2A、2B、コーナ壁3A〜3Dによって容器の胴部が形成される。
