【従来の技術】
気管支、消化管、泌尿生殖器系の粘膜面には、細菌、ウイルスなどの微生物や食物タンパクをはじめとする多くの外来抗原に対し、生体を防御するための分泌型ＩｇＡを主体とする強力な粘膜免疫機構が存在する。分泌型ＩｇＡは血清中のＩｇＡとは異なり、Ｊ鎖を含んだ二量体（ｄｉｍｅｒｉｃ ＩｇＡ）と多量体免疫グロブリンレセプター（ｐＩｇＲ：ｐｏｌｙｍｅｒｉｃ ｉｍｍｕｎｏｇｌｏｂｕｌｉｎ ｒｅｃｅｐｔｏｒ） の細胞外ドメイン（ｓｅｃｒｅｔｏｒｙｃｏｍｐｏｎｅｎｔ：ＳＣ）が結合した形で存在しており、唾液、涙、鼻汁、乳汁、さらに気管支や腸管などの分泌液中に多く存在している。このような粘膜面におけるリンパ組織を粘膜関連リンパ組織とよび、ＩｇＡ産生誘導において中心的な役割を演じている。腸管の代表的な粘膜関連リンパ組織であるパイエル板（Ｐｅｙｅｒ’ｓ ｐａｔｃｈ）で抗原刺激を受けた活性化Ｂ細胞が、全身の血液循環に沿ってふたたび腸管のみならず外分泌腺や気管支・泌尿生殖器系の粘膜面に分布し、ＩｇＡ産生細胞である形質細胞に分化してＩｇＡを産生する。この一連のＢ細胞の活性化にはヘルパーＴ細胞が産生するサイトカインが重要な役割を演じている。このように、局所粘膜面での分泌型ＩｇＡの産生は全身的な免疫応答とも関連している。
そこで、気管支、消化管、泌尿生殖器系の粘膜面に分泌型ＩｇＡの産生を誘導・成立させる食品成分あるいは組成物は、生体防御機構（自然免疫および獲得免疫）を増強することが期待できる。このようなＩｇＡ産生を亢進する食品成分あるいは組成物として、例えば、乳果オリゴ糖およびその組成物が提案されている（特開２００１−６４１８１）。また、ラクチュロースを経口摂取したラットは盲腸粘膜のＩｇＡ呈示リンパ球比率が増加し、血清中のＩｇＡは低下傾向を示したとの報告がある〔Ｋｕｄｏｈ， Ｋ． ｅｔ ａｌ．： Ｊ． Ｎｕｔｒ． Ｓｃｉ． Ｖｉｔａｍｉｎｏｌ． （Ｔｏｋｙｏ）， ４５： １７３， １９９９〕。しかしながら、これらの評価はこれからである。そこで、粘膜免疫系を増強する作用を有する新たな免疫賦活組成物および該組成物を含有せしめた粘膜免疫賦活飲食品の開発が望まれている。
