The present invention relates to the construction of an enclosure suitable, in particular, for steam generators used in association with household appliances, such as simple irons or irons with automatic refill, steam cleaners and the like.

Cases are known consisting of two half-shells, one upper and one lower, in which the upper half-shell is made of metal and the lower one of plastic or metal. The junction of the two half-shells along their respective edges is normally carried out by means of self-locking screws, with the interposition of a perimeter gasket between the edges. For this purpose, the edges of the half-shells must be suitably shaped.

The known casings, referred to above, have numerous drawbacks.

First of all, the edge of the metal half-shell can be sharp and therefore dangerous for the user; therefore, the profile of the junction of the edges of the half-shells must always be protected by a rubber or plastic material covering profile. This profile also allows you to improve the aesthetic appearance of the joint, hiding both the unfinished edges of the half-shells and the gasket interposed between them.

Furthermore, the assembly of the perimeter screws that block the half-shells is rather difficult, since their edges must have a width as limited as possible.

The present invention therefore has the purpose of solving the problems of known casings, that is to say technically and aesthetically improve the junction of the half-shells, increasing the solidity and reducing the necessary components and assembly times for the finished casings.

This object is achieved with an enclosure of the aforementioned type, with the characteristics reported in claim 1 and in subsequent claims which I conclude the present patent.

Advantages and details of the envelope according to the invention will be evident from the following description, by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the attached drawing.

The figure shows a partial vertical section of the envelope, in which the upper half shell (1) and the lower half shell (2) are detected.

The upper half-shell is made of metal and its edge (3) is folded towards the inside of the casing along its entire perimeter. The bending of the edge (3) must have an angle of at least 60 ° with respect to the vertical, to allow a correct joint with the edge of the lower half-shell (2). Preferably, the folded edge (3) of the upper half-shell (1) has an angle of 90 ° with respect to the vertical and is therefore horizontal.

The lower half-shell (2) has a shaped profile with a series of recessed seats (4) (only one visible in the figure) arranged equally spaced along the edge (5) of the half-shell (2). The seats (4) are open downwards and their upper end (6) is drilled to allow a screw (7) to pass, which connects together the edge (3) of the upper half-shell and the edge (S) of the lower half-shell. For this purpose, the edge (3) of the upper half-shell is provided with holes corresponding to the holes of the seats (4) in the edge (5) of the lower half-shell. Furthermore, the folded edge (3) of the upper half-shell and the upper end (6) of the seats (4) are arranged on parallel and matching planes, to ensure the best junction between the two half-shells, preferably with a re-interposition of a sealing gasket. (not shown in the figure).

The envelope according to the invention therefore achieves all the proposed purposes; in particular it allows:

- to eliminate the external perimeter profile covering the junction between the two half-shells, which was necessary in the previously known solutions;

- to reduce the assembly time of the casing, thanks to the elimination of the joint covering profile;

- to eliminate external metal edges, which would be dangerous for the user; - to insert the locking screws of the two half-shells in suitable protection seats;

- to strengthen the structure of the casing, thanks to the bending of the edge of the metal half-shell.

Naturally, the profiles of the joining edges of the half-shells (1,2) can be modified in various ways without departing from the scope of the invention, as defined by the final claims.

Claims (4)

CLAIMS 1. Casing suitable, in particular, for steam generators used in association with household appliances, such as simple irons or irons with automatic refill, steam cleaners, vacuum ironing boards with refill, coffee infusion machines and the like, comprising two half-shells, one upper (1) and one lower (2), in which the upper half-shell (1) is made of metallic material and the lower one (2) of plastic material, the edges (3,5) of the half-shells being connected by screws (7), characterized by the fact that the edge (3) of the upper half-shell (1) is folded towards the inside of the casing and the edge (5) of the lower half-shell (2) is shaped so as to present a series of recessed seats (4) for re-inserting the screws (7) joining the half-shells. 2. Casing according to claim 1, characterized in that the folded edge (3) of the upper half-shell (1) and the bottom (6) of the seats (4) formed in the edge (5) of the lower half-shell (2) are on planes respective parallels. 3. Casing according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the edge (3) of the upper half-shell (1) is folded at an angle of at least 60 ° with respect to the vertical and the seats (4) obtained in the edge (5) of the lower half of the shell (2) are open downwards.
