Abstract

Viene descritto un orologio solare universale che comprende una base, sulla cui superficie sono presenti una meridiana (costituita dal quadrante e dalla relativa eletta segna-tempo) ed un segno di riferimento per orientare l'orologio solare secondo la longitudine, ed un ritto (incernierato ad un'estremità di un supporto estraibile dalla base) che porta un settore semicircolare, libero di ruotare attorno ad un perno, su cui è impressa una scala della latitudine (graduata da 90° latitudine Nord a 90° latitudine Sud): un indice solidale con il ritto consente di leggere la latitudine sul settore semicircolare.Quando l'orologio solare è in posizione di lavoro il supporto è estratto dalla base ed il ritto viene fatto ruotare attorno alla sua cerniera fino ad essere perpendicolare alla base stessa, mentre quando l'orologio solare è in posizione di riposo il supporto è retratto nella base ed il ritto, ruotando attorno alla sua cerniera, viene abbattuto sulla base stessa.
