Le limitazioni del sistema Autostrada Viaggiante sono sintetizzati nell'impossibilità di effettuare scali intermedi e nelle limitazioni tecniche: carrelli con ruote troppo piccole, manutenzione gravosa e problemi nell'affrontare i deviatoi.
