Abstract
Process and equipment for the high pressure mixing of polyurethane components with a liquid pre-expansion agent; the polyurethane components are fed at high pressure and injected into a mixing chamber where they are mixed with a metered quantity of a liquid pre- expansion agent; the pre-expansion agent is first injected into the flow of at least one of the components at a point close to the injection nozzle for the said component. A constant feed pump supplies metered quantities of the pre-expansion agent in overlapping cycles synchronised with the polyurethane components to a high pressure mixing head chamber equipped with means for throttling the flow in order to maintain a mixing pressure above atmospheric pressure in that chamber. <IMAGE>
