Abstract

Uno speciale codice di instradamento centrale viene trasmesso dal commutatore periferico a un commutatore centrale che informa questo se la chiamata deve essere inviata a un utente locale, al commutatore centrale, o all'utente periferico attraverso un commutatore centrale. Nel corso di una chiamata, vengono eseguite due fasi oltre a quelle di una normale comunicazione commutatore-commutatore. Queste fasi sono l'emissione di un codice di instradamento centrale dal commutatore periferico su un circuito di collegamento specifico al commutatore centrale, e attesa di un avviso di ricezione. Le cifre composte dagli utenti su entrambi i commutatori per effettuare simili chiamate sono pertanto simili e tipi simili di commutatori possono essere usati come commutatori periferici e centrali.
