Abstract

The treatment of waste waters from oil mills is a difficult process because of the high organic burden caused by organic substances which are diverse, and present in substantial amounts. The method is a derivative or substantial modification of patent No.1191528 already granted to me on 23/3/88 under application No.6401/86. The present method uses different reagents with the obtention of a reduction in the contaminant burden of 70-80% with a clear yellow-green coloured effluent treatable by a standard activated sludge process or by reverse osmosis. The sludges are easily filterable and utilizable for the production of fodder or compost since they are devoid of toxic chemical substances. Main claims: easily filterable sludges of reduced volume; absence of added toxic products; low-cost treatment plant; effluents disposable by fertilising irrigation or treatable by activated sludge biological purification or reverse osmosis; sludges and effluent waters reutilizable.
