Abstract

In order to transfer material between two confined vols., both volumes have a perforable diaphragm and one of them has a tubular perforating element. When the two diaphragms are bonded together the perforating element ruptures both diaphragms to place the vols. in communication. Pref. the element may be located within one of the vols. or in a third body having a pair of diaphragms and elements and bondable with the dia phragms of both vols. Pref. two vols. have protrusions with diaphragms which are permanently bonded by adhesive, solvent or superficial heat plasticisation. Annular corrugations can be compressed as the vols. are brought together so that the perforating element pierces the two diaphragms. Alternatively two perforating elements may be housed in a third member wi two sets of annular corrugations and a filter member permitting connection to the external environment. Alternatively the perforating element with its surrounding collapsible corrugated member and diaphragm may be attached to the storage vol. by a length of flexible tubing.
