Abstract
The invention concerns a process for purifying a geothermal effluent containing overheated steam, dissolved gases, such as carbon dioxide and matter which forms dissolved scale, such as lime scale, which consists of forming and depositing the said scale inside certain areas of an installation used for the recovery of the effluent. The formation and deposit is caused by allowing the overheated steam to expand vigorously forming water vapour and causing the expulsion of dissolved gases into the effluent, in this way forming a rapidly moving gaseous mixture in which droplets of solutions are present made up of matter which forms scale. The moving droplets strike surfaces and are stripped of the gaseous mixture.
