Abstract

Prepn. and storage of plasma- and leukocyte-poor platelet concentrates from buffy-coats comprises: the transfer of at least 1 buffy-coat into a bag (52) contg. a synthetic crystallised soln., which is diluted with the plasma contained in the buffy-coat so as to constitute a colloid/crystalloid medium for platelet storage; the soft spin of bag S2; and the transfer of the supernatant PLP-PC formed after centrifugation into a bag (53) of polyolefin or of plastics with a similar gas permeability, through a cotton wool filter of 2-3g so as to remove residual leukocytes contained in the platelet concentration.
