Abstract

Plastics crate comprises injection moulded base and sidewall elements which are interconnected by hinges. The base and sidewalls are initially in the lay-flat state and the sidewalls can be pivoted upwardly through 90 deg. relative to the base and latched in that position by cooperating means between the walls and base and between the walls themselves. The base and sidewalls may be initially separately moulded and connected in the lay flat state by pin and bush hinge arrangements. Alternatively the base and sidewall elements may be integrally moulded with hinges between them. In a preferred embodiment, the walls may be retained in the erected state by headed projections which snap fit into apertures. The crates in their lay-flat condition are easily transported with the minimum of space and are useful in containing farm produce.
