Abstract
Wad is located in the case between propellant and projectile and comprises a cylindrical seal member adjacent to the propellant to prevent leakage of explosion gases, and a connected rotor with cylindrical body. The seal and rotor have opposed faces connected for relative contact sliding roation. The seal has a hole for passage of gases and a recess in the end face adjacent to the propellant to deform the seal outwardly by gas pressure. The rotor end face adjacent to the seal has gas jet grooves spaced from the axis and extending to the periphery, with the grooves communicating with the hole via a passage formed between seal and rotor. The rotor pref. has blades or male-female connectors for transmitting its rotation to a projectile in the case and held by a case crimp.
