Abstract

Appts. for splicing yarns mechanically, operates to untwist and retwist the yarn tails, the untwisting being effected while the yarns are mutually moved apart by a separator and held by clamps and with their tails brough to length by breakers and positioners. Specifically the untwist-retwist members are friction belts or discs or grooved cylinders which clamp yarn between them and move oppositely in either direction. The yarn ends do not interfere with one another, esp. during operation of the breakers and during untwisting of the yarn tails.
