Abstract

Maintenance of constant contact pressure during the displacement of the actuating lever up to the snap operating point is achieved. Reduced weight and size is due to the interconnection of components in the mechanism for contact switching in the unit featuring an insulating base and a pair of fixed contacts. The moving contact commutates selectively one of the fixed contacts, the actuation being carried out with the operating lever articulated by one end to the base; the other end is articulated to the movable contact carrier linked to the intermediate lever. With the switch in its initial position, the tensioned spring (9) acting as a support exerts a pressure on the tip (I4) of the intermediate lever (8) so that the contact pressure exhibits two components depending on the inclination of the lever (8) w.r.t the contact carrier (7) and spring (9). The application of the external force shifts the actuating lever (6), causing a change in the position of the lever (8) in relation to the spring (9). The contact pressure changes when the unstable position of lever (8) is reached.
