Claims (10)

1. An inviolable rigid metallic stopper cap for closing a receptacle having a neck ending in a substantially smooth mouth portion havi g a substantially constant external diameter below which is a ring of larger diameter, the cap having a top portion retaining internally a seal to engage ove the top of the receptacle and a skirt of substantially uniform thickness extending downwardly therefrom and formcd with an upper zone substanti lly immediately below the seal, and outwardly the skirt in the upper zone curving inwardly /such that at its minimum external diameter it possesses a minimum internal diameter substant lly corresponding to the external diameter of the mouth portion, a further portion of said skirt at its maximum external diameter having an internal diameter so related to the external diameter of the, ring with which it is to be used, as to achieve a gi-ipping action to prevent rotation of the cap, and the length of the upper zone being less than the length of the mouth portion so that where it curves outwardly, the upper zone, is joined to the further portion by a bridge portion of the skirt which at least around the majority of its circumference will in use be spaced from the bottle neck to form a cutting zone.
2. A cap according to claim 1, in which the bridge portion, around a minor part of its eircumfero7ic , is deformed inwardly so that it will engage the neck of a receptacle. 3·.
3. A cap according to any one of the precedin claims, in which the upper zone is formed by a circular groove which holds the seal to the top portion. 'i .
4. A cap according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the bridge portion is furn hed with slots.
5. · A cap according to Claim , in which the slots are aligned longitudinally to form a peripheral cutting line.
6. A cap according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the bridge portion is formed with a throat intended to guide a cutting tool.
7. · A cap according to any one of the preceding claims formed from a material cold hardened and having a thickness of at least 0.2 mm and preferably between 0.2 and 0.5 mm
8. A cap according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the height of the upper zone is less than 6 mm.
9. · A cap substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.
10. A receptacle capped by means of a cap in accordance with any one of the preceding claims. r> licants
