Claims (5)
1. Compounds having the formula: - wherein R represents an atom of hydrogen or an alkyl group; 1 1 1 1 1 W, W , X, X , Y, Y , Z and Z represent atoms of hydrogen or halogen, or cyano, azido, nitro, alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, alkylthio, arylthio, amino, alkylamino, dialkyl- carbamoyl amino, alkanesulphonyl, carboxy, earbo¾an¾tde¾ or carboxylic ester groups, provided that not more than three of , W1, X, X1, Y. Y1, Z and Z1 are atoms of hydrogen, and N-a ides of such compounds.

Compounds having the formula: - wherein R represents an atom of hydrogen or an alkyl group; W, X, Y and Z represent atoms of halogen/ and W1, X1, Y1 and Z1 represent atoms of hydrogen or halogen, or cyano, azido, nitro, perhalooarb , alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy, alkylthio, arylthio, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkanesulphonyl, carboxy, oa¾a¾ido, or carboxylic ester groups, provided that no more than three of W 1 , X1 , Y1 and Z 1 are atoms of hydrogen. - 65 - /

Compounds having the formula:- wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; , W 1 1 1 X, X , Y, Y , Z and Z represent atoms of hydrogen or fluorine, chlorine or bromine, or cyano, nitro, azido, trifluoromethyl , alkoxy containing up to 8 carbon atoms, benzyloxy, phenoxy, ethoxyethoxy, methylthio, phenylthio, methylamino, ethylamino, dimethylamino, methanesulphonyl , carboxy, carboxylicsacid , methyl ester or carbomoyl groups; provided that not more than three of W, W1, X, X1, Y, Y1, Z and Z1 are atoms of hydrogen; and N-oxides of such compounds.

Compounds having the formula:- wherein R represents an atom of hydrogen, an alkyl group; and W, 1, X, X1, Y, Y1, Z and Z1 represent alkoxy cyano, nitro, or haloalkyl groups or atoms of hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine, provided that at least one of W, W1, X, X1, Y, Y1, Z and 7 represent an alkoxy, cyano, nitro, or haloalkyl groups, and that at least four of the remaining substituents are atoms of chlorine or fluorine. v

The compound haying the formula: 10 4£v Any compound as olaimed in any of claims 1 to ϋ in the form of it8 metal or ammonium salt. ■A·· A process for preparing a oompound aocording to any of claims 1 to¾rtr-wherein a compound of the formula is treated with a base and then reaoting the treated compound thus produced with a oompound of the formula:- 1 1 1 1 wherein II , ϊ , X, X , ϊ, Υ Ζ and Ζ have any of the meanings given in any of olaims 1 to 1*. 12 . A process acoording to claim 3 wherein the base is sodium hydride. 4 » A process according to either of olaims ¾ and carried out in a diluent or solvent. 14 46-· A process aooording to claim 4$ wherein the diluent or solvent is dimethylformamide. -if-. Pestioidal compositions comprising as an active ingredient a compound having the formula; - 1 1 1 wherein R, W, , X, X , Y, Y , Z , Z have any of the meanings as defined in any of olaims 1 to 4&. Pestioidal compositions comprising as an active ingredient any of the compounds set out in Table I herein. 4-9» A method of oombating pests wherein the pests, the locus of the pests, or the habitat of the pests is treated with a compound as claimed in any of claims 1 to or a composition as claimed in either of claims Brj^ and 2Θ*· A method of treating plants to render them less susceptible to damage by pests, which comprises treating the plants, or the seeds, conns, bulbs, tubers, rhizomes or other propagative parts of the plants, with a oompound as claimed in any of claims 1 to or a 16 17 composition as claimed in either of claims 1?· and SB. ίΗ . A method of treating a medium in which plants are growing or to be grown which comprises applying to the medium a compound as claimed in any of claims 1 to or a composition as claimed in either of claims 3r and -32·. Bispyr idyl amine compounds as claimed in claim 1 processes for preparing them, compositions comprising them, and methods of combating pests using them as hereinbefore described with particular refer ence to the Examples.
