Abstract

Thread protector for the ends of tubular elements, e.G. drill tubes in accordance with the API regulations, consists of a relatively yielding component, made of an elastomer, which is bonded or cast to form a unit with a relatively stiff component (I). (I) has a uniform cross-section throughout its length; the yielding component is designed to seal against the configuration of the ends of the tubular elements. Protector can be made at a very low cost and is easy to apply. It protects the tube ends against corrosion and mechanical damage and can easily be modified to produce a complete closure.
