Abstract

Chromanols with good antihypertensive effects and lower toxicity and with the following formula are prepared <IMAGE> in which R1 is a straight-chain alkyl radical which is optionally alpha -substituted by 1 or 2 methyl groups and has 5-8 C atoms, as well as their salts, ethers, acyl derivatives and hydrates. This entails reducing a corresponding compound of the formula VI or its phenol salts or ethers <IMAGE> in which B<(-)> is defined as anion, preferably with sodium borohydride. Acylation or hydration of the compound of the formula III results in the corresponding acyl derivatives or hydrates. [GB1451151A]
