Abstract
1343578 Whey; lactose; and corn syrup solids KRAFTCO CORP 23 May 1972 [9 June 1971] 24113/72 Heading A2B A process for drying whey, lactose, and corn syrup solids, so as to provide a substantially dry particulate product with a desired decreased density and particle strength, comprises providing a liquid dispersion of a carrier selected from whey, lactose, corn syrup, and mixtures thereof, and a proteinaceous strengthening agent, which may be selected from gelatin, casein, caseinates, skim milk, soy protein, gluten, albumen, and mixtures thereof, said strengthening agent preferably containing at least about 30% protein, injecting a gas into the dispersion, and spray drying with said gas, to provide a substantially dry product, preferably having a density less than 0.09 grams/cc.
