Abstract
1346501 Fuel injectors BURMEISTER & WAIN'S MOTOR-OG MASKINFABRIK A F 1971 A S 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 23104/71 Heading F1B An I. C. engine fuel injector has a fuel duct 27, Fig. 1a leading to a discharge valve 14, 15 and an atomizer 7, the discharge valve opening at a predetermined fuel pressure, and a spill duct 31, Fig. 2 controlled by a spill valve having a resiliently-biased valve member 25, the spill valve closing the entry to the spill duct when the fuel pressure rises above a predetermined value less than the opening pressure of the discharge valve. Fuel is supplied to the port 36 Fig. 1b from a separate metering pump connected through a priming pump which maintains a pressure in the injection valve when the pump is set for zero delivery so that fuel flows through the central duct 35, 33, 27 through a bore (31), Fig. 2 (not shown) and the inside of lining 6 to an outlet duct 45. During the fuel metering pump delivery stroke the increased pressure on valve slide 25 moves the latter to close bore 31 and fuel flows via duct 30 along flats on check valve 23 via bores 19, 20 and 21 into chamber 22. Increasing pressure in chamber 22 lifts valve spindle 13 from its seat 15 to allow injection via nozzle apertures 8. Cooling oil may be circulated through bores 53, 52, chamber 51 and return bores (not shown). Axial pressure is exerted on the pressure head 34 by springs 41. Casing 2 may secured to the cylinder cover 3 by low-temperature shrinking before insertion.
