1283802 Acyl derivatives of tyrosine F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 12 May 1970 [14 May 1969] 22806/70 Heading C2C Compounds of formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> represents hydrogen, hydroxy, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, halogen or amino, n stands for 1, 2 or 3, R<SP>2</SP> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R<SP>3</SP> represents hydroxy, lower alkoxy or mono- or di-(lower alkyl)-substituted amino, R<SP>4</SP> represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkanoyl or aroyl and R<SP>5</SP> represents hydrogen or lower alkyl and wherein one of the substituents R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> represents hydroxy and the other represents lower alkanoyl with at least two carbon atoms, where lower indicates that group contains up to 6 carbon atoms, and salts thereof are prepared by rearrangement of a compound of Formula II wherein one of R 6 # and R 7 # is H and the other is acyloxy by treatment with either a Friedel- Crafts catalyst or U.V. light of 250-350 nm. and optionally hydrolysing, resolving and/or salifying any product. Intermediates of Formula II above where R<SP>4</SP> is acyl are prepared by acylation of the corresponding phenol. [GB1283802A]
