Abstract
1,237,263. Drying or curing oven. AYRODEV PROCESSES Ltd. 5 Nov., 1968 [24 Sept., 1968], No. 45284/68. Heading F4G. A drying and curing oven for varnished or lacquered articles comprises an open-bottomed compartment 13 through which hot air is circulated, the air entering the base of the compartment 13 from one or more spaces between the separated walls 7 and 8 (e.g. an annular space), and exhausting from the top of the compartment via outlets 9, 10 for recirculation or via a damper-controlled outlet 12 to atmosphere. The periphery of the bottom of the compartment 13 is provided with deflector rims or louvres to minimize air turbulence at the bottom of the compartment. The outlet 12 enables a balanced air flow to be maintained at the bottom of the compartment. The air may be heated directly by a gas or oil burner 2 or indirectly by steam or electricity. The air circulating passages may contain dampers. The air may be circulated by a fan 6, the position of which in the air circuit may be changed. The articles to be dried may be introduced into the compartment 13 from below by one or more chains 15 winched at 16 or by a mechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically operated lifting table 17, the articles being supported on open frame 18.
