Abstract

1275409 Pneumatic tyres DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 11 July 1969 [11 July 1968] 33054/68 Heading B7C An asymmetric pneumatic tyre in which one bead base 7a has a larger diameter than the other bead base 7b, the bead 7b being disposed radially inwardly of the point of maximum width of the tyre, and in which the tyre is so constructed that there is substantially no change in shape upon inflation. One of the sidewalls, may have additional ply reinforcement which may extend into the crown region to form a breaker layer, or one sidewall may be reinforced by a radial cord ply carcass and the other by a cross-ply carcass. Preferably the bead bases taper at an angle of 5 to 15 degrees, respectively although the angles may be identical. The breaker assembly 4 of the tyre comprises steel cords disposed at between 10 to 25 degrees to the mid-circumferential plane X-X of the tyre. The tyre is supported on a wheel 10 having a rim 9 which includes a portion 9a substantially equal in diameter to that of the bead base 7a. [GB1275409A]
