Abstract

Imidazothiazole derivatives of formula (I), their acid addition salts and stereoisomers are new. Ar = phenyl (optionally substituted by 1-3 of halo, OH, 1-6C alkoxy, SH, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkylthio, NO2, NH2, mono- and di(1-6C alkyl)amino, 1-6C alkylcarbonylamino, arylcarbonylamino, 1-6C alkylsulphonylamino, -CF3, CN, aminocarbonyl, mono- and di(1-6C alkyl)aminocarbonyl, COOH, 1-6C alkoxycarbonyl, CHO and CH2OH; pyridinyl, thienyl or furanyl (optionally substituted by 1-6C alkyl or halo). R1, R2 = independently 1-20 C alkyl, (3-7C cycloalkyl)-1-6C alkyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl, aryl or (aryl)-1-6C alkyl, and 1 or R1 and R2 may also be H, or R1 and R2 may form 3-6C alkanediyl. aryl = phenyl optionally substituted by 1-3 of halo, OH, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkyl, NO2, NH2, CF3 or CN. - 4 compounds are specifically claimed, e.g. 6-(4-bromophenyl)-2-hexyl -5, 6-dihydroimidazo(2, 1-b) -thiazole. Also claimed is the preparation of (I) which comprises e.g. cyclising a corresponding imidazoline with a reagent of formula R1-CH(W1)-C(=O)-R2 in inert solvent. W1 = a reactive leaving group. Dose is 0.01-5 (0.04-25) mg/kg.
