Abstract

Novelty: a corrugated combustion chamber for steel pressure water boilers is disclosed. Constitution: the cylindrical combustion chamber is made of corrugated sheet iron of bathed surface (2) the corrugations of which are parallel to the chamber΄s axle, a metal vat with or without fireproof bottom 5 set into the chamber and internally adjoining the tops of the corrugations (fig.5); in this way, half the combustion chamber of the boiler is dry and the other half wet, namely said combustion chamber combines the advantages of the dry and bathed chamber and removes the exclusive disadvantages manifested by both of them. The diverse exhaust courses (3) of the boiler are depicted in figures 6 and 7. The cross section of the corrugations of the combustion chamber may be curved, triangular, trapezoidal, rectangular, or of whatever appropriated geometrical shape. Except of being cylindrical, the cross section of the bathed chamber can also be ellipsoidal in shape. The internal vat inevitably follows the cross section of the bathed combustion chamber while always adjoining the top of the corrugations.
