Abstract
In our invention are described improved chemical methods for producing the pharmaceutically active peptides Relaxin-1 and Relaxin-2 which are better suited as drug substances in comparison to recombinant derivatives. The key step of the syntheses isthe production of Relaxin B-chains containing methionine sulfoxide instead of methionine at position 24 for Relaxin 1 and at position 25 for Relaxin 2. That methionine sulfoxide containing B-chains are better soluble and allow the random combinationof the Relaxin A and B-chains to give methioninee sulfoxide containing Relaxin-1 and Relaxin-2 in high yield. The methionine sulfoxide containing Relaxin-1 and Relaxin-2 are reduced finally to the native Relaxin 1 and Relaxin 2 using ammonium iodideas the reducing agent.
