Abstract

The invention concerns a technological method to utilise solid waste by thermal co-processing with certain added mineral raw materials in a special, three-part, thermal processing kiln for production of a hydraulic mortar of wide application. The method is characterised by pre- processing of the solid waste, drying and separation into heavy and light fractions. The heavy fraction is fed into the middle, static, part of the kiln where it meets the mixture of mineral raw materials which is fed into the upper, revolving, part of the kiln. The light fraction, mixed with a conventional combustible material, is fed into the burner of the kiln in the lower, revolving, section. The product from the kiln consists of cement clinker which on milling and the addition of gypsum gives a hydraulic mortar as the end product. The method ensures no residues are produced, utilisation of the ash of the solid waste, restriction of atmospheric pollution, the facility to utilise solid waste and the viability of the production process.
