Abstract

Η παρούσα εφεύρεση αναφέρεται σε νευροτροφίνη-3 (ΝΤ-3), ένα πρόσφατα ανακαλυμμένο μέλος της BDNF γονιδιακής οικογένειας. Βασίζεται, κατά μέρος, στην ταυτοποιηση περιοχών ομολογιας αλληλουχίας νουκλεϊκού οξέος που είναι κοινές σε BDNF και NGF (U.S. αίτηση ευρεσιτεχνίας αρ. σειράς Νο. 07/400591, που καταχωρήθηκε στις 30 Αυγούστου 1989, που ενσωματώνεται εδώ μέσα μέ αναφορά). Σύμφωνα με την παρούσα εφεύρεση αυτές οι περιοχές ομολογίας μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν για την ταυτοποίηση νέων μελών της γονιδιακής οικογένειας BDNF/NGF; μια παρόμοια μεθοδολογία χρησιμοποιήθηκε για την ταυτοποίηση ΝΤ-3. Η παρούσα εφεύρεση προβλέπει για γονίδια και γονιδιακά προϊόντα των νέων σχετικών με BDNF/NGF νευροτροφικών παραγόντων που ταυτοποιούνται με τις μεθόδους αυτές. Σύμφωνα με την εφεύρεση, ΝΤ-3 μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί στην διάγνωση και/ή την θεραπεία νευρολογικών διαταραχών, περιλαμβάνοντας αλλά χωρίς περιορισμό, νόσο του Alzheimer και νόσο και τη νόσο του Parkinson. Επειδή η ΝΤ-3 έχει παρατηρηθεί να εμφανίζει ένα φάσμα ενεργότητας διαφορετικό απο τις εξειδικεύσεις BDΝF και NGF, η ΝΤ-3 παρέχει νέες και πολύτιμες προαιρετικές λύσιες για την πρόκληση της επανανάπτυξης και επιδιόρθωσης στο κεντρικό νευρικό σύστημα. ω
