Abstract

999,580. Friction hinges. GRORUD JERNVARE FABRIK A.S. Oct. 30, 1963 [Nov. 2, 1962], No. 42906/63. Heading E2F. A friction hinge for windows pivoting on a horizontal axis comprises hinge members 1 and 2 with a cylindrical housing 10 extending from member 1 and containing a friction block 9 pressed against its inner walls by frusto-conical members 4 and 5 urged by a screw 6 passing therethrough and engaging the extension 8 of the hinge member 2. The extension 8 also receives a square projection 7 of the member 5. The friction block is made of resilient material and comprises fingers 9 extending outwardly of and integral with a central annulus 11. Axial fingers, Fig. 6 (not shown), extend forwardly of the frusto conical member 5 and engage the recesses between the friction block fingers 9.
