A polarizing section (Fig. 3) is prepared by applying an oriented poraizing sheet 11 to a support 13 (e.g. transparent isotropic resin) by an adhesive 12, covering selected portions of said sheet 11 by a chemical resist 14 (e.g. by photographic means or silk screen technique) and then removing the uncovered portions of the sheet e.g. by chemical etching. A number of these sections may be assembled with their polarization axes angularly orientated as shown in Fig. 5. An impression of movement can be given to a projected image by incorporating a sheet such as shown in Fig. 5 and rotating polarized in a projection system. The projection system shown in Fig. 14 comprises a lamp 60, reflector 19, condensing lenses 61, polarizing animator 67, transparency 65, lenses 62, rotating half wave plate 63, polarizing plate 64 and screen 65<SP>1</SP>.
