Abstract

999,203. Knitting machines. K. STEINHOF, [trading as KARL STEINHOF APPARALEFABRIC]. July 16, 1961 [July 16, 1960J, No. 24143/61. Heading D1C. The slide of a flat fed domestic knitting machine is provided with a toothed pattern wheel 70 disposed between the two stitch cam-parts 4, 4<SP>1</SP>. This pattern wheel 70 has small and large teeth 113,114 respectively which engage between the butts B of the needles so as to be actuated thereby when the slide is moved along the bed in either direction. The large teeth 114 also push certain of the needle butts on to a cam edge 85<SP>1</SP> so that they by-pass the respective stitch cam and do not knit, thereby enabling a pattern effect to be obtained. The pattern wheel 70 can be changed as required to vary the pattern and is normally urged out of operation by a spring until pressed into operative position by a push-button. The stitch cam-parts 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are spring-loaded into operative position and each has a sloping surface to be engaged by the butts to move one cam-part out of action on each direction of movement of the slide.
